Hey guys. Have played a lot of KA50 and a little of the A10 beta, however at the moment my current PC can't run it very well. I havent really looked into Lock On with FC2, but saw the whole pack for $70...How are the graphics compared to say, DCS:10, and the requirements etc? Is it a good sim? Sim HQ seem to think so, but I always like to double check here first :)

Thanks

You can get LockOn and FC2 together in Lock On Platinum for $20. If you really want the manual and map and all the other stuff the $70 pack is good, but for just the game save your money and get Lock On Plat. :)

It's a fun game, graphics aren't quite as good as A10, but they are decent and can be improved with any number of addons. Plays much smoother than A-10 usually does.

sounds great and like it'll do me nicely til A10 is a little better optimised/I stop being lazy and actually upgrade my rig :-) Where can I buy it platinum? Is it a digital purchase?

Thanks :)

If you're in the US Amazon is a good place to get it.

Since the original LOMAC game was from Ubisoft, they can't do a digital distribution of it, but they wheeled and dealed till they could get this version out. I had to get an old $1 copy of LOMAC then install FC2 over it, very messy. :)

Thanks :) I would rather get it digitally at the moment as I have a long weekend to play it! Am I right in thinking I just need to buy Lock on ($9.99) and FC2 ($29.99) and I'm set to go?

Is it still quite a detailed sim, as in it takes a while to even switch the engines on?

Correct - you need Lock On and FC2, you do not need FC1. So your install proceedure would be:

1) Install Lock On

2) Install FC2

And that would be it. :)

It's not really very close to the detail of the DCS products. This is more of what's called a "survey simulators" where a medium attention to detail is given to a larger amount of aircraft. So there's no clickable cockpits, and engine startup is pretty much just a one-click affair. Flight modeling is also simpler (though the Su-25's have the AFM - a slightly less detailed version of the technology that drives the DCS:BS and DCS:Hog flight models).

But I'd still definitely recommend it, if nothing else then for the joy of killing Sharks online with a fighter. The Shark doesn't have a radar warning receiver, so it's a sitting duck. :D
