Depressible Pipper

I would like to know the real function of the HUDs "Depressible Pipper".

The manual explains ow to move it ( pag 353) but I really think it does not say what their function :huh:

It provides a fixed point of reference on the HUD. That's pretty much it.

 

The only concrete use I can recall for it is when you have the targeting pod in A-A mode, you don't get the diamond on the HUD. If you move the depressible pipper down 41 mils it will be at the location of the TGP when it's caged/centered.

Another (somewhat) useful function would be to adjust the gunsight while the HUD is de-cluttered.

I'm not actually sure whether the de-cluttered HUD symbology represents a gunsight, but you can use it as one...

Technically it serves as a backup weapon/gunsight, if you know how to do the mil depression math for the weapon and atmospheric/weather conditions you're in. You would have to release at perfect parameters for the weapon to then hit the target.

Thats because it only appears when you have selected the correct mode:joystick:

You can activate that mode only with 80 proof or higher.
