Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X vs Zotac GTX470 AMP

Once again a graphics-card thread...

 

I narrowed it down to two (three) cards atm:

 

1. Sapphire HD5870 Vapor-X 1GB

 

2. Club 3D HD5870 PCS+ 1GB

 

...both are a little bit OCed...

 

3. Zotac GTX470 AMP edition

 

When it comes to performance they're all close to each other. What I'm not sure about is picture quality. I heard rumors about both, Ati and nVidia, that there might by some issues (maybe driver related?).

 

Can those who own one of these cards maybe drop a short line about their experiences please?!?

 

BTW: No, I'll not go for a HD69xx, as their price/performance ratio doesn't look too impressive...

After having seen Teej mentioning the MSI Afterburner Tool I gave it a try.

 

My settings:

- Everything High (except water on low)

- Civ Traffic off

- AA8x, TSSAA on, HDR on

- Res.: 1920x1080, MFCDs @ 512

 

Result:

CPU @ 50-65% load

GPU @ 85-99% load

 

Looks like a new Card will do the trick! ;)

hello JaBoG32, I am currently running 2 Sapphire 5870,s in crossfire, driving three screen eyefinity. here is spreadsheet if IA(Spring)in A-10c of FPS for me. I am upgrading to 5870 Eyefinity 6 2gb cards so i can drive 3 screen main and 3 touch screens, still keeping crossfire.

 

sorry, cant upload file, but I averaged 40-70 FPS showing with fraps, all setting high

Its a good card, also use CCC hyper drive to auto overclock it based on your monitor set up, you can drive 3 screens off that one card, as long as one is Display Port, or Active adaptor for displayport. As a single card, it holds its own..I am going 5870 eyefinity 6 2gb cards, only to drive 6 screens and have the extra memory too:book:

Your welcome, also if only a single card, check price for 5870 eyefinity 6 2gb card, more memory, same 5870 perfomance, difference othe than price is 2gb vs 1 gb and six mimi display port outlets, comes with doggles though. and 5870 1gb is 2 6 pin power connectors and 2gb is one 6 pin and 1 8 pin connector, Size of both cards are the same. Over here the 2gb card is significantly more expensive than the 1gb version. Further I'm gonna plug my 24" + a 8" TouchScreen. I think the 1gb card can handle that.

Hello NotiA10, Thank you for confirming this, I love the 5870,s and could drive all six monitors off of the cards i have, but then I lose crossfire. But with 2 5870 E6 cards i get 4 gb memory instead of 2gb, keep crossfire and still drive 6 screens, seemed like the right thing to do?:book:
