sungsam Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Hi Is it possible to change what folder the rendered files saved in ? Default is ..\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Movies but I have a second hd dedicated for media files. So can I somehow change this folder to for example d:\renders? DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! swift Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Maybe a folder shortcut works? Delete the 'Movies' folder a make a shortcut to D:\renders.
Necroscope Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 in W7 from Home you can use mount points. Всех убью, один останусь!
sungsam Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 Ok I found it, thanks for info. In order to mount a folder to an other folder on deferent disks/volumes even over network, you can use Hardlinks , Junctions , and Windows7's Symbolic Links http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html#hardlinks Thanks a lot and sorry for any inconvenience. DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! Kuky Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 so wait, using these mounting points what exactly do I need to do if I want these precompiled effects folder to be outside the Temp folder in DCS... I don't quite get the way how it's done and what it does... does this Junction Link Magic utility need to be run every time with Windows start? sungsam Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) Not quite. Only when you need to create a junction point. It's only a GUI for not using command line. All these futures exist in NTFS 5.0 microsoft filesystem but you use them by command line Ln.exe Fsutil.exe diskpart.exe etc And yes you can move your precompiled folder to other disk and then create a junction point folder to the original path using same folder name/path. That way the system will belive that it reads/writes data on drive C:/...../precompiled folder, while actually will read/save them from/to d:/...../precompiled folder. You can also use it when you don’t have enough space in your hard disk to move applications and data to other disks, and all programs will work fine. Just expirament using test folders. A misconfiguration will lead to data loss ! Edited December 27, 2010 by sungsam DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! DCS AH64D Longbow !
