CubusAddendum Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Hi guys, just thought I'd share this. If you've ever read anything negative about the Saitek X-65F, it'll be probably be about a few users who gotten drift in their sticks axes and "had to return them". :( Yesterday I started to get this problem with mine drifting hard left and forward (almost full deflection). I Googled the issue to find people lamenting the lack of calibration tools in the configuration software etc. It seemed odd to me that such a sophisticated peripheral could become unusable (especially so quickly), so in a brief moment of inspiration I disconnected the joystick from the throttle hub while keeping the throttle attached to a usb port. (If you do this the device does not appear to be disconnected to the OS, so you can safely do this in-game). I reconnected the joystick again and allowed it time to rebind to the throttle hub. The drift was gone: according to the config tool all axes were dead center. Experimentally I put the joystick on a radiator for a short while, and sure enough some drift came back. I rebound the joystick and recalibration occurred. Since then I've kept the room temperature as constant as I can, and have taken care not to touch the joystick while it is binding. No drift has occurred since. ################################################ So what I can glean from this is that: (a) axis calibration occurs upon binding/rebinding the joystick to the throttle hub. (b) the force sensors are sensitive to temperature changes. ################################################ 1
RogueRunner Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Thanx. Will keep it in mind if I ever use mine again and get this error. With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
Total Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 My X-52 will get off axis occasionally. I have always done the same thing. Unplug the stick from the throttle, don't touch the stick, and plug it back in. I do it while ingame in DCS BS, DCS A-10, LOFC2, ArmA2, IL-2, X3 Works every time. The logitech I had though - it never would recenter. Logitech always told me to send it back or buy a new one. Pffft!
