dunadan Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I had a strange problem this weekend when I purchased a copy of Lock On Platinum at a local Target store in central California. I brought it home and found that it contained only the two disks (Lock On and FC2) - there was no installation guide with the serial for FC2 on it. I returned to the store, where they allowed me to exchange it for a new copy in stock. I immediately opened it with the clerk at the exchange counter and that copy also did not have the install guide/serial number. At this point I returned the product and they refunded my money. I thought I would post about it here to make sure ED was aware of the issue. There are a couple of possibilities: 1) There are some copies of the retail Lock on Platinum out there without the installation guide (which has the activation key printed on it) in the box. 2) (More troubling) There is a supplier out there who is making and selling invalid/unauthorized copies of Lock On Platinum. I don't think this is likely but I remember the drama around original 'WalMart' early release of Strike Fighters so I know things like this can happen. 3) There should not have been a key in the box, it was either printed somewhere on the disks or in the box and I missed it (both the clerk and I looked carefully and could not find it anywhere), or it is some sort of demo. However, the box was identical to copies of Lock On Platinum packaging I have seen online. From a personal level, I'm bummed at not having the software I wanted - the box was listed at $20 for both LOMAC and FC2, which is the best price I've found (Amazon also lists the same box at this price). I just got a TM Warthog for Christmas and FC2 would be a great addition to Black Shark and A-10 for when I wanted to play with something a bit faster. Assuming this is some sort of production glitch I would happily go out and buy the package again if I knew I could get a key for it, I could scan the receipt or box or whatever to provide proof of purchase. Anyway thought I would bring the situation up, if there is anything I can do or more information I can provide to help investigate this I would be happy to.

Thank you for this feedback - it is very helpful. If you purchase Lock On Platinum and there is no serial code printed on the back of the printed installation guide, please scan a picture of it and send to ED support. They will then issue a serial code. If there is no installation guide in the box, please send a proof of purchase to ED support. Please note that in Russia, this week is a general holiday, so we only have a skeleton level of support. Having problems? dunadan Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Thanks for the reply JimMack - with that encouragement I went back to a different Target store in the area and repurchased Lock On Platinum - this time the install guide was there with the serial, so I am installed, registered and running! At this point I would say it was likely a production issue which affected a limited number of games and I just 'won the lottery' so to speak. If anyone at ED would like any more information on the initial purchase please feel free to contact me here or via PM, I can give you store location, time and date of purchase, I think I even have the original receipt if it would help trace down a lot number or something. Thank you very much for your assistance!
