636_Castle Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I can't think of any other brake on the front dash... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] How To Fix Your X-52's Rudder!
BlueRidgeDx Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I think that's indeed what it is referring to, but that handle doesn't set the brakes. The A-10 doesn't have a parking brake. The handle simply switches the braking system to the alternate hydraulic source. "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. Col. Creighton Abrams
lobo Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 The A-10A (T.O. 1A-10A-1) manual says: "Normal brakes will be available if the left engine is started first. Should the right engine be started first, pull the emergency brake handle." The left hydraulic system powers the normal brakes. So if you start the left eng you get the left eng hyd pump running which gives you hyd pressure to operate the wheel brakes. The right eng powers the right hyd pump which gives you brakes off the right eng hyd pump when the emerg brake handle is pulled. No anti-skid off the right side "emerg brakes". At least this is my understanding from the manual.
