Gerry47 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum and also to Black Shark. I am running the simulator on an Alienware M11x and so have no separate number pad just a row of numbers under the function Keys. I am using a wireless mouse as well and only have an xbox type controller. Everything works well but I can't seem to get the view where you can move side to side in the cockpit or forward and backward (although I can zoom using the mouse wheel). Is it possible for me to enable this view and how do I do it please. I tried searching the forum but could not find an answer. Apologies for the noob question and thank you for your help.
Rusty_M Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I'm not sure, but I think to really do that fluidly, you'd need TrackIR or something similar. The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
Henchman14 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Zoom is your forward and backward, as far as I can tell. To move up and down, and side to side, hold down the wheel key on your mouse, then move the mouse. I have the same problem, low end laptop with no numkey pad. You'll have to go into the key assignments in options to change things to fit. I know the 5 key on the numpad will jerk you back to center. You really need to be able to move in this sim to get some of those posts in the heli out your way when your trying to keep an eye on targets. There's also a padlock view in game, but its kind of hard to use.
Gerry47 Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 Thanks for your reply. When I press the mouse wheel the function remains the same in that I can only zoom in and out or look around the cockpit. What are those views called and I'll see if I can map them to the mouse in the configuration box?
Henchman14 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) Hmm. I think its called "shift". Rotating your mouse wheel should zoom in and out. But if you press mouse wheel and hold it down, then move your mouse side to side, or forward and back, your pilot should shift his head and upper body around the cockpit. That's why its called 6DO. I have one of the old, standard microsoft mice, so there may be a difference with yours. Edited January 19, 2011 by Henchman14
Gerry47 Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 Thanks, I'll try that later and see how if I can get it to work.
