XarBat Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I uninstalled Beta 4 from the add/remove programs list and noticed that there was still 7.5 GB in the folder I installed it in, is that normal? What else do I have to do for a clean uninstall of Beta 4 (patched from Beta 1)? Also does TARS Beta 10 work with the latest A-10C release?
Wayc00lio Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Delete any folder associated with the Beta 4. New folders will be created. The Beta 4 stuff needs to go, unless you have saved missions etc that you want to carry over. XarBat Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Hell no. I just want to know if anyone else still had 7.5GB of files after they uninstalled Beta 4.
EtherealN Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 What is their exact location? Is it install files that are left over? Make sure to delete C:\Users\XXXX\Savedgames\DCS A-10C Warthog. Again, unless there is some specific missions you want to keep - then move them out first. XarBat Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta
EtherealN Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Well, you probably won't need any of it, since that folder shouldn't exist anymore. :P You used the windows uninstaller, right? Try using the included one. If that doesn't work - delete. By the way, I would recommend you to install outside of Program Files. Easier to handle rights issues with the OS if you install it someplace like C:\Games\, since the OS is picky about the Program Files folder. XarBat Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 I am currently using XP 64-bit, so it is ok to install to the Program Files.
RodBorza Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 And what about controller profiles? I have a simple joystick and throttle and I really don't want to lose the control profile I created for my use. The profiles are saved in a system folder out of those for Beta 4. Do I erase them as well? Can they be used with the release version? Or it is not recommended? This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly: YouTube: SloppyDog
EtherealN Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 You can try re-using them, but it is recommended that you don't to ensure compatibility. If you do try using them, first move them to a separate folder. Then install. Then make a backup of anything your profile transplant would replace. This is extremely important. If it works - great. But you need to be sure that you can paste the backup right back in if it doesn't. RodBorza Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Hmmm..thanks man! Better not mess with it. Part of simming is taking time to re-setup the controls... just part of the "job". This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly: YouTube: SloppyDog
EtherealN Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Yeah, it's inconvenient, but trying to maintain compatibility for all those things through beta is a nightmare - especially since in beta you want to have the ability to change whatever you need to change to make things work. I bought myself out of that problem personally though - TM Warthog HOTAS is nice for that. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

El_Roto Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 You can use controllers other than a WH? RodBorza Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Yes, you can. The problem is that right now I have other priorities to attend to, like buying a new video card (nowadays running the game in a ATI 4770), more memory (now only 2 GB) and a Track IR (right now, "looking" with the hat). So, only this costs the $500 of a Hotas Warthog. Also, I have a CH Hotas which is with me for years and is still very good! :joystick: P.S.: I know, I know, this is only a envy guy talk. ;)...hehehe...
