I would like to use Jack's profile because it is not only setup pretty well, but well documented for a noob.

But alas, I have a mere x52pro... :doh:

@Bubb:

I just tried that profile. When I open it in the Profiler it shows no commands at all. And when I tried to load it, it hosed my computer and I had to reboot.

@aceflier:

I also just took at look at your post for the JackBauerFinal.rar download, and that download only has a .lua file in it. I see no profile for the x52pro.

I am looking for a version of SFJackBauer's x52 profile that works with the x52pro...

What am I missing here?

Follow my link to SFJackbauer's original post. Use everything in his but just change my lua file and you are done.

But Jack Bauer's original post is for only the x52. He does not post anything that works with the x52 PRO. I downloaded that profile a few hours ago and nothing shows up in my profile editor, and it does not work when I send it to the joystick either. So what am I missing here??

aceflier, do you use the x52PRO hotas??

PS: Thanks for trying to help me, by the way..

The profile I made is exactly the profile Jack uses. It nullifies the "MODES" switch and adds mouse bindings to the ministick. The rest of the profile is Jack's LUA file found in his thread.

It worked perfect for me up until a week or so ago when I replaced my 52 with a TMWH.

You should follow Jack's instructions and just use the file I linked you and you would be perfect. You'll have to re-bind some keys in game (trim, DMS, CMS) but other than that everything is normal.

I'll upload mY X52pro profile this evening if I get chance. I think I based it on jacks, can't remember but my profile is designed for use in sst only. i.e I delete all key bindings in DCS just keeping the axis. So far it's worked fine througout beta and in the RC inconjunctipn with TrackIR.

My profile can be found HERE. I used business intelligence concepts to align tasks to device function. I've just updated the profile today with a few changes.

It may look complicated at first glance, but the only times you have to mode switch are for takeoff and TMS targeting. The TMS / DMS match up very well. I don't even notice the mode switch with my thumb any more. This is a complex sim. If you want to actually keep it all on the stick, and comfortably, there's no way to do it without modes on the X52pro.

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

While your profile is very nice. The above statement is incorrect to the core. Jack's profile did exactly that (no need for modes switching AT ALL) and after trying Jack's profile and yours, I must admit Jack's felt more true to life and was more enjoyable to play with and engage combat in.

I stand correct then.. um.. Bubb. I guess I'll download it and see how you get 100 commands on 50 switches without mode changes. I'll have to completely rethink how I do things now that I know about Pandora's HOTAS.

It wasn't my intention to offend. I wasn't implying that my config was better than Jack's, I just created mine under a different philosophy. If it turns out that my profile only makes sense to me and no one else can use it, I'm really ok with that. It took me forever to put it together, so I wanted to share with the community so others won't have to duplace the work I've already done.

I'm glad you found a good config for yourself. It makes a big difference.

I wasn't trying to offend you either or discredit your excellent work by no means. I was merely implying that you have stated a fact which is incorrect (Having an X52 Pro setup without modes switching is impossible).

Give Jack's profile a go and see how it performs. I did try both yours and Jack's and found out it was a lot easier for me at least to memorize the HOTAS commands on Jack's profile and it seemed to resemble the "original" A-10 HOTAS configuration almost 1 to 1.

Both profiles are excellent and of course a personal preference is involved in those type of things and to each his own.

Apologies if I came across as offending or rude. It wasn't my intention at all :)

I have seen several posts that seem to indicate that a profile for the x52 also works with the x52pro. But in the past, my understanding is that they are not compatible. Has this changed??

When I try to open SFJackBauer's x52 profile in the Saitek software with my x52Pro device selected, I see no buttons assigned and the list of available commands just has about 10 called Untitled 1, 2, 3.... Is there some trick to making them work with the x52pro?

@StrongHarm:

Are your 3 Modes organized in any logical order? Like is Mode 1 for Flight & Nav, and Mode 2 for A-G, and Mode 3 for Comms?? Sorry, I am still a noob and trying to figure this out.

I have attached a copy of the profile I use. Like I said before I just made some slight adjustments which I preferred over the original (Jacks I think) but it pretty much keeps you heads up most of the time.

Now unfortunately I dont have a pretty picture showing what each assignment is like Strongharms post so you will just have to press each one in SST to see them...maybe Ill do this later if people request it. :music_whistling:

My in game stick and throttle settings are for axis only (not including slider = airbrake in SST), which reminds me that I still have a spare one on the stick (rotary around the button E) , all other joystick button assignments have been cleared.

Try it out, see what you think and let me know. :D

There's a converter you can use to switch pro to standard and vice versa. I think it was posted by Bucic and it's referenced in the post of my profile.

Yes, the modes are switched out by order of function. You'll notice that mode3 is primarily for startup and takeoff. Mode one is for flight and weapon deployment, and mode two is for data manipulation and targeting.

Much like the cockpit, it looks chaotic at first glance, but once you familiarize it's very comfortable.
