Yep, pretty cool, isn't it?

Last Sunday both ISS and Discovery passed through the sky from where I live and with my binoculars I could clearly make out both spacecraft while they were a few 100 feet apart. They docked about an hour later.

Yeah, being able to watch the spacecraft in orbit with your own eyes is a pretty amazing thing. I got to watch it happen a little while back at my summer house, breathtaking to say the least. Though it did take a little while to get my telescope on target. Makes me wish I had one of those digital ones where you can just tell it where to look and it will go :P.

The only thing I regret about it is that it will be one of the last missions the space shuttle program will ever embark on. Ever since I was interested in flying, it has always been a personal dream of mine to make commander of one of those missions. Now with the whole space program being all but scrapped, it looks like I will have to find something else to push myself towards.

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
