leroy1964 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Hi again fellow Black Shark pilots (dare I include myself after my last post LOL):music_whistling: Anyway, was just wondering, does anyone here remember "Gunship" by Microprose (early or maybe mid 80's release). I rememeber enjoying it heaps and so I decided to ask you lot this question. Does anyone know if there has been a Gunship (Apache that is) game released in recent years or is it long gone, ancient history? I know there have been games released for the consoles but not much for PC with regards that original game. Even though it took the big arse floppy ages to load, I loved playing it, your thoughts?
barra733 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Used to play it on my Amiga along with one of the fathers of flight sims - F18 Interceptor.
Henchman14 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I think Janes Longbow back in the 90's was the last one I saw. 1
leroy1964 Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 Agree 100% Used to play it on my Amiga along with one of the fathers of flight sims - F18 Interceptor. Yeah now that brings back some excellent memories, that was a very polished sim back in the day.
leroy1964 Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 Right again mate I think Janes Longbow back in the 90's was the last one I saw. Yep, that's the last one I remember playing re- the Apache Gunship, was very good, however Gunship was my first love. Bought a Commodore 64 just to play that game. The wife used to get the shits as I only had a TV in which to plug it in LOL.:megalol: I wish they would re-release that game like they have the others, ie civ, col, railways tycoon and pirates, all made by Microprose at the time. Maybe Sid didn't have anything to do with the original gunship? Cheers
EtherealN Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 The credits list on Jane's Longbow was awesome. I loved how they claimed to be endorsed by dentists and such random stuff. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

WynnTTr Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) Think my first sim experience was with F-19 Stealth Fighter. I remember taking off and then flying to my mission, trying to avoid detection, hitting my target then coming out. Can't remember what year that was in but that was my sim cherry. leroy1964 Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 Wish we could still play it? The you tube video was excellent, thanks. Brought back many hours of fun, shame there isn't anything like it currently available for PC and or windows 7 64 bit. Cheers all
