onehitxzibit Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 (edited) I've been flying the F-15 for a while now but I have some problems with turning defense into offense. This is my main cause of death in multiplayer right now especially when fighting against a Su-27. When the enemy launches a R-27ER I wait for my AIM-120 to go pitbull, do a split-s and outrun his missile. The problems start here. At this point whenever I try to go back on the offense I usually eat a R-27ET because while I was turning and trying to re-acquire him he's been getting a lot closer. Also at what minimum distance is notching still an effective way to break lock? Any tips on improving my tactics are appreciated. :) Edited March 10, 2011 by onehitxzibit
Udat Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 If you are playing online, the simplest solution would be to get on teamspeak and fly with other players for mutual support. Exorcet Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 If this happens often, you are either firing too early, or outnumbered. Don't be in a rush to fire the first missile. If the Flanker launches early, turn and go defensive, but don't lose lock. When you are close enough to get a good shot off, take the shot. As for ET's, running with AB on will make you an easily found target. Turn off AB when re-engaging and drop flares even you don't see a missile. Also, you should have an idea of where he is already. Take note of altitude, speed, and heading of the bandit before you run. FLANKERATOR Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) In many vs many scenarios, staying for too long in one fight is probably a bad choice. The guy you don't see will get you. You RWR will never be smarter than a human pilot, if someone is hard locking you from far, your RWR will display that threat as primary, which could be completely wrong if another much closer bandit, maybe already in NEZ is tracking you without alerting you(TWS, RWS, EOS, Visual). That's why you should always consider"cleaning" your RWR as much as possible. Turn away, force him to unlock and go for someone else then come back with a better situational awarness. Try to go for 'easy' kills on busy guys who don't see you rather than 1on1 engagements.
