vegachavez Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I can`t seem to find a way to re-assign TMS Forward and DMS UP on my joystick. I have done it before and I can`t remember how I did it. I have tried deleting the original key assignment then adding the new joystick command followed by re-adding the original key assignment....then the opposite! I also deleted the original key assignment permanently then adding the joystick new command only. In short I have tried every permutation possible that I can think of, the only thing that bothers me is THAT I HAD DONE IT BEFORE!! What is the proper procedure...if there is one?? :helpsmilie:
Kuky Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) Since the thread title has nothing to do with describing your problem I was expecting some funny definition of WTH... maybe think for better thread title next time? PS: don't know why you can't assign the button... all you gotta do is click on command, press add and press the joystick button and click ok. EDIT: clock - click :D, command = command assignment Edited March 13, 2011 by Kuky 2 PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Kuky Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) sorry I meant click, by command I mean key assignment (ie TMS up etc) You know each controler has its own column... for the TMS up row you click on the field in your joystick list and click on add... and you press the button on the joystick to assign it Edited March 13, 2011 by Kuky PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
vegachavez Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 That was the first thing I tried...does not work.
Kuky Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 hm... have you tried deleting the joystick file in ...c:/Users/yourloginname/Saved Games/DCS Warthog/Config/Input/A-10C/Joystick folder and starting from scratch? Don't know what else to suggest, my last option would be game reinstall. Maybe someone else will chip in PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
vegachavez Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 yes I thought of re-installing but may try your other option. I know I can set each command to its default setting...is there a way to set the entire command options to their default settings with one click?
Kuky Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 hm.. I just tried it, looks like you can't do whole column at once to default. I am sure you can delete the keyboard.lua in that same path and it'll reload default one next time you start the game PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
vegachavez Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 I think I got it to work...one question. When using my MAV Missile I get a diagonal line from the wagon-wheel pointing out of its center instead of locking-on to the designated steer-point (tanks ) it happens even after I re-start the Sim. Any ideas?
Seanner Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) Diagonal line off of a HUD sensor symbol means it's the current SPI, e.g. TDC = box&dot + line TGP = diamond + line TAD = big dash box + line SP = box + line Mav = wheel + line Did I forget any? If you want the mav to point at the SP you have to: 1. make the SP the SPI with TMS long aft 2. slave mav to SPI with china long forward If you want an actual visual of your target first you have to: 1. slave TGP to SP with china long aft 2. zoom/slew/etc. the TGP and SPI a tank or whatever with TMS long forward 3. slave mav to SPI with china long forward Oh and in each case there is the final step of TMS short forward with the mav as SOI to actually lock the missile. This may not work at long range so keep trying. Also if the TGP or SP is very slightly off you will have to manually slew the mav seeker a little bit. Edited March 13, 2011 by Seanner
vegachavez Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Great info and insight! I have been playing since beta v.3 and have not any problems with the MAV in any of the steps you have described and always managed to get a lock-on the majority of the time. Today I decided to switch TMS-Up with my weapons release buttons on my joystick. After the switch, is when my problems began. I still can`t get the MAV Wheel to lock to the waypoint/marker with new TMS-UP button or release my weapon with the switch I made. I reverted back to the keyboard TMS short forward with the mav as SOI to actually lock the missile TMS FORWARD and now it does not work as it always had. I have also tried short range with no success. I read somewhere in the forums that re-assigning commands must follow a specific order or the Sim could crash. I currently have another tread going to locate that thread...I think that could be my problem. I also have the same problem with " center cockpit view " I can`t bind it to any new key or to my joystick...it just won`t work.
vegachavez Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Sorry , I meant to write: I currently have another thread going to locate the other thread with the info. regarding the order of re-assigning commands to your joystick. Just tired...hope this all made some sense.
vegachavez Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Here is my thread! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1137506#post1137506
Seanner Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I'm no expert on in-game control assignment since I use the Saitek software for all my joystick stuff... All I can suggest is to test another system with the relevant controls...e.g. if you can set your TGP to area then point, your TMS short forward is clearly bound correctly. That doesn't rule out some kind of obscure bug preventing the mavs from working, but we should at least confirm what IS working first.
S77th-konkussion Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) Personally-I think it's a mistake to create a profile based purely on the key commands. The procedures are such that you should make every attempt to create a profile that matches the true to life A10 as closely as possible. In other words- get "V" "ctrl Down", "ralt up" and all that crap out of your mind and start thinking in real life terms: CHINA HAT FWD LONG CHINA HAT AFT LONG If you have an X52- which is SEVERELY LACKING in Hat Switches- I would suggest making your pinky lever a SHIFT and mapping dual HAT functions to 1 HAT. For example: Take that main HAT on your stick, and map that one out as "trim" in the normal state. (pinky lever not involved) In the SHIFTED state- map it out as a DMS or a TMS. Basically you combine the TRIM, TMS, DMS, CMS into 2 physical HATS in whatever combination you want- but I suggest you map the 2 most commonly used ones as the unshifted function. I'd also recommend that you do all this button programming in the Saitek software. Don't use DCS except for axis programming.
