Need more information. Which plane, which game mode, and exact procedure?

Are you on the targets 3 or 9 clock? It's probably notching you. Or your in the wrong scan mode. Trying switching from high to med scan mode.

I'm sorry you're right I've been too generic. I'm a beginner. F15, I'm just trying to replicate the training mission to use the radar in bvr with aim7(stt mode) in FC2 1.2.1. I'm doing the 1th f15 mission vs a mig23. I see him on my radar, i go to lock the bar but it only flashes for 0.1 of a second on the hud and then nothing. It works in lock on (1.12b) (tab key). I remapped the key from enter to tab but i have the same result. I have the platinum edition.

Again, difficulty setting/game mode? (Simulator or Game)

Best would be to fly the mission and cause the behaviour to occur, and then after the mission save the track file and attach it here. There are many reasons why you may be unable to lock, including:

Too long range. (A radar can detect something way earlier than it can actually lock it.)

Target is close to entering the doppler notch.

Wrong radar mode.

By mode I don't mean TWS/STT, I mean the frequency setting. Depending on target aspect you need to use either High or Med frequency range on the radar to improve locking reliability.

In between game and sim. How do i save the track file? Like i said it's weird because if i use the same procedure i can get a lock but using lomac. What i mean is that in FC2 I cannot even acquire the target, never mind the lock.

After flight, click the button with the text "Save Track". Find it in the missions > tracks folder inside your install directory, then click Go Advanced on the reply box and use the paperclip icon.

FC2 has more realistic radar modeling than old LOMAC. If something works in LOMAC but not in FC2, it might be because LOMAC had it wrong and FC2 does it right. Or it might be a bug. Or it might be a settings issue for you. The only way to know for sure is a track.
