Hi, i have broblem with AI :mad:

 

I have F-5 tigers flying CAP mission near our target area, but their attack range is way too long, there is some mig-23's very far out (230km) and right after i hit pause off F-5's will engage :doh:

 

 

AI is way too aggressive in sead mission too, why they removed ai aggressiveness settings from editor ?

They removed aggressiveness settings? I think they didn’t work. Even if I set aggressivity to low, then my CAP aircraft would engage targets hundreds of miles away.

 

The best solution is to delete the AI aircraft’s CAP task and use a combination of “unit in moving zone” triggers and “attack unit” triggered actions. If an enemy aircraft comes within one of the CAP aircraft’s moving zones, then an “attack unit” triggered action occurs on that enemy unit.

 

Creating all these triggered actions and moving zones is a tedious task in the mission editor, however. Thus, this will likely be the next lua script I write, as I know exactly how to do this… hell, I could probably write the script in an hour or less. Basically, the lua script would simplify what you had to do, turning something that might take 50 triggers and 20 triggered actions into something that takes like three triggers and two triggered actions. Would you like me to make this for you Hakkau? Even if you don’t want it now, I need it myself, as as soon as the patch comes out, hopefully improving stability, I’m adding air battles to my missions.

They should fix the AI's aggressiveness asap :(

 

If you can make that script i will be very cheerful, but i can use triggers for now if they will make some fix for AI in next patch :book:

Well, there's alot more pressing issues than AI aggressiveness. Such as them not even being able to take off or follow a simple set of waypoints. The fact that we CAN use triggers to make up for this issue puts it on the back-burner.

Just delete the default CAP task and add an enroute task to engage targets within a particular range. The only issue you'll have with this is that they seem to engage enemies that get within that range of any point along their flight path, rather than within that range of the flight's current position.

 

For a lot of setups that doesn't matter though, e.g. if you just want a CAP between two points.

I used the Advanced Waypoint Action for AI CAP. There, you can set a attack range. I set 40nm and my flight engaged only hostiles, which are in these 40nm range.

1.1.0.7 and AI is still stupid, attack range is way too long if there is Awacs in mission. F-5.s just go after bandits in full burn, even they are about 80km out :(

 

 

 

 

Here is the misson, if some one wants to take look. F-5 should only enage if bandits are inside 40km range.

The 'max distance' for the search then engage task on the F-5E's is set to 74 km. Did you try setting this to 40 km range?

 

Also, if you can't provide a simple mission showing only the issue you're having, can you provide instructions as how to replicate the problem? Do I just accelerate time until something happens, or is interaction needed to set the flag to enable the S&E task?

ARGH!! still AI won't work right, F-18 have enagment distance set to 20miles but they will go after su-27 about 80miles out, it looks like AWACS will make AI flights crazy... Can some one confirm ?? :helpsmilie: :doh:

One of the Hornet flights is using the default fighter sweep task, which will engage targets at any range.

 

The other flight, which you've set the search then engage task on with a limited range, you've also set ROE = WEAPONS FREE. This allows the unit to engage any enemy it knows about.

 

Set it to 'open fire' (the default) and the group will only engage things it has been tasked to. Which in this case means, only enemies within that range of its flight plan.
