Option for Cinematographic mode of external camera movements. Option for making the camera behave Real-life-like ones. eg mouse controlled external cameras would not move as if they are "weightless" , not as they are so far in sims like ufos hovering in space, that follow the object's vector and velocity when at the same time can yo-yo around it in a flash in any direction like a quantum particle, but the movements would mimic real life camera shooting practices , eg as if the camera is on another plane, etc ....

effects / modes like lets say the camera having its own independent course/velocity vector (as if mounted on the ramp of a transport lets say) and the camera either tracks the object (flyable plane) while mounted on that carrier, or shoots towards just one direction (and the object (piloted plane) enters in and out the camera's field of view) like trying to get in formation with the camera or out of it, option to adjust the zoom rate etc etc etc

So basicay you want the camera view to move WRT newtons laws of motion, specifically his law of inertia, (an object's velocity won't change unless acted upon by an external force). You want the camera to gradually respond to mouse inputs. The camera movement would respond to mouse inputs by turning the mouse movement into a constant velocity, which gradually ramps up as you move the mouse, and as you try to change direction there is a delay caused by the tendency for the camera to continue to move in the direction it was going.

IMO this is not impossible but would take some smart coding to implement. I'm not sure if a modder has the capability to create this, maybe an experienced modder could answer this. I like the idea of this, however it would be best implemented in the external camera view.

Yes i am referring solely to external views. I think you got it pretty close. Something remotely like that has been in MSFS i think but not feeling realistic either (has annoying angle/axis limits and if i recall well is also stuck with an unrealistic almost fisheye wide-angle lens view)

It will take study and research on behalf of ED. I am referring to it as part of official update to DCS and LO. If it could come in the form of community mod though ofcourse thats great :D It will take a study of documentaries and movies aerial shooting and keeping in mind that the goal is to produce a documentary / movie feel

This has been bothering me for years about Flight simulators. Simulators evolved tremendously in all fields providing today photorealistic level rendering except the camera control. ED was always ahead in these matters, eg heat blur, and their implementation of vibration/jitter option in external views alone adds heaps of feel and fun in external views. I believe such cinematographic options as i describe are aligned with EDs philosophy and enthusiasm about eye candy and presentation. The video recording function also they implemented in LO is another sign of this. (btw is that still on with FC2 and DCS? i havent checked ...)

I strongly believe external views is a neglected field in sims and the time has arrived for some drastic improvement in that field too. Watching a track or making a video of a photorealistic environment and objects and the amazing physics and movement/behavior work invested in all them is being definitely let down by the unrealistic ways the camera moves which hasn't changed since the early 90s .....
