Activation notice renders controls useless

Hi all,

 

Well, after getting FC2 installed and flying for a couple of months I suddenly am having a problem.

 

Just before the sim loads I get a popup notice: "This product requires activation. Enter your serial number..."

 

My serial number is already entered for me, so I press 'next' and get: "application already activated." I click 'yes' to run without re-activation, and the program loads.

 

However, whenever this happens the game refuses to respond to any input; neither the keyboard nor the HOTAS work.

 

HOTAS checks out in windows, etc., and basically the sim wants to fly; just won't respond. I am using X52 and TiR.

 

Anybody have a clue what my problem is?? appreciate any help. Thanks....

ok, relax and resume what you were doing.

 

As i tried to find the cause, my computer started getting weirder and weirder; so i began looking at my equipment.

 

I found a tiny speck of dust wedged in the bottom of the pinkie switch of my X-52. It was apparently shorting it out and causing random cmds to be sent. How strange. I removed it and eveything is fine now.
