VTJS17_Fire Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) I have these data in my HUD: D5/B1 (left, lower corner). I read the manual and believe to know what the DTSAS (digital terrain system application software = database for elevation data) and FOM (figure of merrit = EGI/GPS accuracy) is. But what means D5/B1? B1 = FOM = highest accuracy = 26m? D5 = ...? Thanks for clarification. kind regards, Fire Edited April 8, 2011 by VTJG17_Fire Hardware: Intel i5 4670K | Zalman NPS9900MAX | GeIL 16GB @1333MHz | Asrock Z97 Pro4 | Sapphire Radeon R9 380X Nitro | Samsung SSDs 840 series 120GB & 250 GB | Samsung HD204UI 2TB | be quiet! BlueRidgeDx Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 To the left of the slash is the DTSAS mode and Figure Of Merit (FOM). Possible modes are "D" for Track and "S" for Search. There are also several failure annunciations that could appear here, but I don't know if they're modeled or not...I'll have to check. To the right of the slash is the EGI mode and FOM. Possible modes are "I" for INS, "G" for GPS, "B" for Blended, and "N" for Nav Idle. The FOM is a numerical value from 1 to 9. I don't think there's a public source that states what SEP each number represents, so I won't post it here. But suffice it to say that 1 is "very accurate" and 9 is "very inaccurate"...lol. 2 "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. Col. Creighton Abrams
VTJS17_Fire Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 Ok. In the flight manual, you'll find the accuracy from 1 to 9, or from 26m to 5400(?)m. I understand. B1 means "blended" (GPS and INS, right?) & accuracy=1. And left to the slash is D5. D means track ... and what means 5? Are there some information in the flight manual to the track or search modes, alternatively what means search and track? I mean, which system is searching or tracking? kind regards, Fire Hardware: Intel i5 4670K | Zalman NPS9900MAX | GeIL 16GB @1333MHz | Asrock Z97 Pro4 | Sapphire Radeon R9 380X Nitro | Samsung SSDs 840 series 120GB & 250 GB | Samsung HD204UI 2TB | be quiet! BlueRidgeDx Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 If there are tables in the DCS manual for the FOM figures, go ahead and use those numbers. I didn't have a chance to look. Correct. B1 means Blended mode (GPS/INS mix position) with a FOM of 1. D5 means the DTSAS is tracking and the FOM is 5. Track means the DTSAS has fixed it's position and is "tracking". Search means the DTSAS is trying to determine its position, and until it begins tracking, all DTSAS functions are inhibited. 1 "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. Col.
