Wedge Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) I am taking the plunge and building this one. First time build so I am sure this thread will get a workout when I run into troubles... I will mostly be running DCS:A-10 and BS, RoF, FSX and CoD. Here is what I am looking at picking up in the near future: i7 2600; asus P8P67 Pro; Haf X; Corsair Vengence DDR3 8GB; HDD WD Raptor (600gb); and one, maybe two 2TB WD drives... (I am steering away from SSD's at this point); W7 64 (Home or Professional?) I currently have a 1000w Corsair PSU and will keep using the GTX 480 until I save the $$$ to upgrade. I won't be overclocking. Thoughts? Edited April 12, 2011 by Wedge
Rainmaker Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) I would drop myself to a 2500K. This is only one opinion, but I don't see spending 300+ on that chip when the 2500K is only around $225. All the newer chips OC very well if you feel like you need that kick in performance. But, like I say, my opinion only. Also, the smaller SSD's are awesome for holding your OS on. The reliability is pretty high and they aren't that much at this point, unless you start putting them in Raid. Good thing about being the OS, you don't loose near as much in the drives takes a dump as opposed to having all your personal stuff on their. Only is issue is the technology is evolving as quick as anything, so prices and values are changing rapidly. Edited April 12, 2011 by Rainmaker
