Maybe for 1.2, of course!!

 

I think it would be useful to have a team total score in the scoring window. This way, you can have a clear victor at the end of the mission. If possible, it would be nice to have all kills scored by ground units added to the coalition totals, for instance: SAM kills on enemy aircraft, ground vehicle vs. ground vehicle kills, etc.

 

I envision a full-war mission with advancing armor on both sides. Say that Blue side gets more a2a kills and the highest score, but the Reds win the ground war. The total points of everything scored in the mission would truly determine the winner.

 

Also, if a dedicated server is done: after the mission is ended, it would be nice if the scoreboard would pop up automatically for about 20 seconds for the clients before they are dropped back to the menu to begin the next mission. Or even better, if the scoring system was integrated into the debriefing screen somehow.

 

I think this would encourage a bit more teamwork and less of just racking up kills for personal glory.

I always thought it was obvious little additions to the mission editor like events and scoring would make a huge difference in the enjoyment in the sim. I mean from version 1.xx to 1.1x saw almost no change in the most lacking part of the game, the mission editor. It's like they work on everything else and leave the editor as an after thought. I think ED should just copy the janes f18 editor and they'll have a beauty on their hands.

It's not that simple ... to make such an editor and have it work SUCCESSFULY they need to overhaul both air and ground AI.

 

Vapor, nice idea ... but I'd also like to see the scoreboard become a server controlled option also, with the ability to turn it off completely, or display it only when landed, or display it on demand - and of course, you should ALWAYS get a scoreboard in your debrief...
