bunraku Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Hi I'm fairly new to the A-10C so forgive me if my questions are stupid. :cry: In LOMAC in the American planes you could press a height hold button. I tended to do this a lot in order to get my mavericks line up or to use CCRP. In A-10C i have read the manual and i can see the panel behind the throttle. But i am not sure i am turning it on. The left hand switch says armed and the middle switch is at Normal. If i press the engage/disengage button i don't seem to get any indication that autopilots engaged. I'm not too fussed about autopiloting to waypoints etc, but i do like height hold. Am i doing something wrong? Thanx
Kenan Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 You should hear a "bell" sound when autopilot is ON. Having it ON doesn't mean it will hold the plane 100% still. You will most likely have to trim it during the flight and it does take some time for it to "settle" ie. stabilize. Wedge Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I think you also need to make sure that your pitch and roll angles are less than 5 degs for it to take effect...

If you set the switch aft, the AP will hold altitude & bank (so if you're banked, the plane will circle...) Forward it will hold the current path (so if if you're say in a shallow dive with your nose is pointed at the target, it will stay that way) Cheers.

Thanx Try using the left throttle button (I think the default binding is Q) to engage autopilot and see if that works. DCS Wiki! :book:

Think i just need to trim more!! :) just to be sure; I am not sure you understand; you *can* actually have the autopilot make the aircraft maintain straight and level flight so you can aim the mavs more easily. It will hold bank and altitude (though you're right if you mean that you cannot change bank while holding altitude). BUT- unlike LOMAC there is no function that will hold the altitude, but allow you to bank the roll axis at the same time.
