Ozz13 Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 When I see the screens and video it reminds me EXACTLY like Falcon 4.0 which I loved. Falcon had broken MP that never got patched to work and you could only play IP to IP. When I read the SIM HQ review it mentioned "Multiplayer datalink broken" Seeing how close it looks.. I'm going to assume this isn't a reskinned Falcon 4.0 mod..right? I only ask because the MP datalink is broken.. which would be the same as a Falcon mod. I'm sure its not. But, what is the problem with the MP? Does it work? Is there a functional lobby? Thanks,
EtherealN Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 No, this is not a "Falcon 4.0 mod". Yes, there is a server browser. (If that's what you mean by "lobby".) The datalink should work. There was an issue with linking SPIs in the release version. Other SADL functions were however operational even then, and those issues that remain are being continually patched. SFJackBauer Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 DCS (and even Lockon) MP is light-years more stable than any Falcon version. "MP Datalink broken" refers to the inability of Warthogs to exchange targeting information through radio datalinks, a bug that is certain to be fixed (Datalink works perfectly in Black Shark, why wouldnt work here?). It does not mean the entire MP'ing doesn't work :). EDIT: Headshot!
EtherealN Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 EDIT: Headshot! You forgot the "BOOM". :D But yeah, to be more specific: the issue referred to in the SimHQ review is sending SPI over datalink - that is, to let your flight members see your "cake", hook on it and so on. Other functions such as messaging, SADL positional displays on TAD etcetera work fine. Ozz13 Posted April 23, 2011 Author Posted April 23, 2011 Thanks for the answers. I was fairly certain it wasn't but just wanted to be sure. Off to purchase..see you in the skies.
Baggy MacDouche Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Are there other servers to connect to other than what shows up in the server browser? Maybe it is the times that I'm playing but there don't seem to be many populated open servers. Even the ones that are locked usually don't have more than a couple people in it. Where are people playing? EtherealN Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Many squadrons run "private" servers through selecting LAN but connecting over the internet (through manually typing IP). The LAN selection causes the server not to be advertised via the master server. This can be convenient in cases where you don't want to bother with passwords, but still want to control who plays on the server.
