I've done a few missions now of the first campaign, and while I can eventually find out where the action is, I don't think I've quite got the handle of the JTAC communication.

I know when the JTAC reads off the briefing, I can manually enter in the 2 letter + 6 number location into the CDU and create a new waypoint.

Is this necessary? Is there a waypoint included in the JTAC data? After the upload, I have a small red triangle/diamondish looking symbol on my TAD. It doesn't seem to be a new waypoint, however.

What is the correct process?

Thanks!

You are correct that the data transmitted isn't a waypoint, but you needn't make it one in order to use it. On the TAD, hook the red triangle by slewing over it and TMS forward long. That will set it as your SPI. You can then slave your TGP to it with china hat forward long (IIRC). It will also appear in your HUD as a dashed box, I believe.

Hi strtok, welcome to the Forums.

The Flight Manual covers the whole procedure and that is the first thing I would refer you to page 318. Then do a search in the PDF Flight Manual for JTAC, to find out more.

Second, you can go to this forum sub section http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=130 and search for JTAC inside the Forum.

Hope this helps.
