Wartski Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 1. is it normal to be adjusting the trim a lot? 2. when the comm menu is shown, how do you choose the response number? 3. is there a way to adjust the speed of the hat view control? (movement is too fast for me when looking around) 4. is there another sun to use? (a sun mod or texture, sun is way to big, bright and has big spikes) 5. Also, I am confused as to how to use the autopilot ... there are 'q', 'a', '2','3','4' keypresses. But in what sequence are they used? thanks in advance. I never use trim except when i have an unbalanced loadout, damaged aircraft or A2A refueling. LASTE / EAC exists for a reason. 2 - F keys 3 - Not as far as i know 4 - http://files.lockon.ru/en/38342/ 5 - ?? not sure what you are trying to say here. Ultimately, 'A' Keypress initiates EAC control on the appropriete setting - Alt & Hdg, Altitude or Path. Switch on the left hand side by your knee. Good luck. Nu-NRG Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 1. is it normal to be adjusting the trim a lot? Yes, speed, uneven loadouts, etc ... 2. when the comm menu is shown, how do you choose the response number? F1-F12 keys 3. is there a way to adjust the speed of the hat view control? (movement is too fast for me when looking around) Not sure on this one, someone else will help here :D 4. is there another sun to use? (a sun mod or texture, sun is way to big, bright and has big spikes) There is a download in the download section that modifies the sun and flares. Give it a try. 5. Also, I am confused as to how to use the autopilot ... there are 'q', 'a', '2','3','4' keypresses. But in what sequence are they used? If i'm correct 2-3-4 will set the autopilot selector switch between PATH (aircraft will hold the current path), ALT/HDG (aircraft will hold the current altitude and heading) and ALT (aircraft will hold current altitude). A will activate the autopilot when within parameters (read within normal angles) thanks in advance. You are welcome :D Aviate - Navigate - Communicate
bartleby Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 1. is it normal to be adjusting the trim a lot? Yep. Whenever your flight conditions change, you re-trim. 2. when the comm menu is shown, how do you choose the response number? Function keys. F1, F2, and so on. 5. Also, I am confused as to how to use the autopilot ... there are 'q', 'a', '2','3','4' keypresses. But in what sequence are they used? There's only one autopilot, but three different modes. 2, 3 and 4 select between them. 2 is path hold, which will attempt to maintain your patch as shown by the velocity vector on the HUD. 3 is altitude/heading, which tries to maintain your altitude and current heading. 4 is altitude, which will maintain an altitude given an arbitrary bank. It's used mainly to set up orbits so you can put your eyes on the instruments inside. There are also restrictions on when you can enter the modes, and you should be reasonably trimmed before engaging AP anyway. DCS Wiki! :book:
