sdmccorm Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Guys I've been looking at that TrackIR product for a while. I understand how much people in the Sim community use and love it and I can see the value for cockpit viewing. As I watch the demos and check out the features, there's one question I can't seem to answer or grasp. If the cockpit view turns and moves with your head movement, then how are you able to see the monitor?? In other words I rotate my head to the far right to look out cockpit - but now I can't see the monitor because my head is turned to the right. LOL. What am I missing here? Sorry for the noob question. Mack
104th_Crunch Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 As an example, you turn your real head 5 degrees right, the in game head will turn 45 degrees. it is not a 1:1 ratio. You can custom set this ratio.
Barrakooda Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 As crunch has stated I have mine set so that if I am looking at right side of monitor, the view on monitor is looking to the rear over right shoulder.
CarneyUK Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I have only just recieved my Track IR 5 (a few days ago). I can now see why everyone rates it so much. It makes a massive differene as you can view things quickly without having to mess around with hat switches and the likes (also great for missle evasions :D) As has been said it is not a 1:1 ratio. There are a lot of ways to set the track ir up, just like the joystick axis in DCS. It has taken a bit of trial and error to get it the way I want it, but it is now working like I want it too. This video explains TrackIR perfectly: It really is worth it for DCS A10C or any flight sim for that matter!! "The sky is not the limit.....it's my playground!!" @paraglidecass
