Here's a slightly humorous take on rules for designing PC games for developers - in case anyone missed it:

Here are the main points, the discussions behind each (in the article) are interesting:

I. Thou shalt not shun thine player's mouse

II. Thou shalt not accelerate mouse input

III. Thou shalt not make a mockery of third-party controllers

IV. Thou shalt not mix thine bindings

V. Remember thine user-interface conventions and keep them holy

VI. Keep thine configurations options exposed

VII. Thou shalt allow players to host dedicated servers

VIII. Enough with the save points already!

ps. the funny-wording (for non-English first language speakers) is old English to give the article a theme similar to the Biblical 10 Commandments given to Moses.
