WildBillKelsoe Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Hello all, I recently purchased a Thrustmaster T-flight hotas, and it plays well, not the best there is, but what I can get at this time. Now during the shooting range mission, the chopper starts behaving weird, I'm talking about turns and twists, the trimmer becomes soo effed up, that I crashed after some hardwork. I notice that beyond half of the collective, it registers, and if I get it back to zero collective, I get a full register of movement. Is there something going on, knowing that I made the stick a slider in controls (since it is a thrust slider) My purpose is to ask in this thread, whats the best collective output for hover hold, how to get the chopper in hover (note that sometimes I look at the HSI bubble and dont get a bullseye and that means I'm close to hover but I move the stick to center the lines but nothing...), and how to counteract the jerking on firing a KH-25ML or releasing a bomb or dropping a fuel tank? Are fuel tanks ignitable? (Can I arm them to be? --> far fetched??) Next comes the bomblets dispenser. This, and the rockets are far painful, not to mention the bombs, which I've tried before but couldnt hit. Is there like a formula for dropping the bomblets or the rockets? Another question is, how come tanks need 3 hits with vikhr at times, and other times just two? And whats the purpose for the AP if the keep ricochetting all the time?? I can hardly hit but the trucks. this is the track, watch it and tell me your opinions. Thanks AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. digitaljjd Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 The trimmer. Yes. There are two modes in options...er default and one. Trim with having to return all controls to zero(release stick) and trim and after a sec. it starts (forgot actual time) and all the controls are at zero. So,once that happens it your trim is out of wack, and you trim again it's more and more out. Try the trim reset, map or use the keyboard Ctrl T?, also check that there are no double joystick assignments, and when trimming the rudder is also trimmed in position, so if a wind gust comes along you will yaw. There are many videos on youtube and here that may answer your questions, do a search, I'm sure these topics have came up several times.
ZoomBoy27 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) I put a tutorial on Trimming at my Black Shark Blog - The Trim Tutorial goes into some details I use a HOLD TRIM method to move smoothly to an even position - see tutorial for full explanation. Clearing Trim [L.CTRL + T] is the major way to steady it Also check your inputs with [R.CTRL + ENTER] Edited June 21, 2011 by ZoomBoy27 ZoomBoy My Flight Sims Page - Link to My Blog - Sims and Things - DCS Stuff++ - Up-to-Speed Guides to the old Lockon A10A and Su-25T - Some missions [needs update]
WildBillKelsoe Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 I might have locked myself... Thanks for the tut, but mine is not ff and I will start using your trimmer hold down for getting a feeling of this baby. What about my other inquiries? ZoomBoy27 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 You mean I'm going to have to do more than pimp my Blog??? :megalol: Hello all, I notice that beyond half of the collective, it registers, and if I get it back to zero collective, I get a full register of movement. Is there something going on, knowing that I made the stick a slider in controls (since it is a thrust slider) A few things you have to look at 1) Has the basic calibration been done in Windows? I had a hard time with my CH Fighterstick until I remembered  to do the Windows calibration 2) Is there Thrustmaster software that's not been set up correctly on the Slider? Might want to talk to some Thrustmaster people for a profile or at least a discussion. 3) Is that slider delicate enough to get you the exacting control you need. If it's a small slider with a small range, it might not be accurate enough My purpose is to ask in this thread, whats the best collective output for hover hold, how to get the chopper in hover (note that sometimes I look at the HSI bubble and dont get a bullseye and that means I'm close to hover but I move the stick to center the lines but nothing...), and how to counteract the jerking on firing a KH-25ML or releasing a bomb or dropping a fuel tank? Are fuel tanks ignitable? (Can I arm them to be? --> far fetched??) The best Collective for HoverHold is just the collective that keeps you at the same height as measured by the VVI - Velocity Velocity Indicator That requires a delicate touch from the Collective I usually move into a hover by tilting back, resetting trim for just a short period of time to reduce speed to Zero and when the Ka-50 is steady, clearing trim altogether[L.CTRL + T]. Then I hit the Hover Mode [L.ALT + T], lean the Ka-50 forward very slightly and I re-teim. I don't use any other instruments If you hit [BACKSPACE] you also get a hover line (at less than 50 km) on the HUD - that can help you to slow down. Fuel Tanks are not ignitable - as a guy surrounded by fuel-tanks, do you really want to be extra explody :) Next comes the bomblets dispenser. This, and the rockets are far painful, not to mention the bombs, which I've tried before but couldnt hit. Is there like a formula for dropping the bomblets or the rockets? The real fire-power of the Ka-50 comes from the cannon and the Vikhr missiles. The bomblet dispenser is purely an area of effect and you need to use a standard flight pattern - like dropping bombs in WW2 - to choose the area you are going to bomb. What I do is the following: I fly level at 500AGL (as on the HUD) at a speed of 150kph. Higher or faster means that the Area of effect is longer - this gives me a length of 250m splash area I laser-lock up the middle of the target group on the Shkval I fly directly towards it and at about 1.1 to 1.3km away, I release the bomblets I keep it standardized as much as possible See my attached practice mission - Note: I've put in a watch-tower that you can watch from. After you release the bomblets, Pause the game, and hit F12 to see the tower. It'll be next to the target group. Scroll in and out and rotate with the mouse to find the Target Group Should you miss, you can crash into the ground and then hit RCVR (recover) option The mission starts with you at 350m AGL. Just download and place in your Missions folder Rockets are like an artillery shot. The target pipper does show up on the screen. Aim there for an area of effect shot. Don't expect T-80s or M1A1 tanks to be destroyed but trucks, APCs, and soldiers will be. Another question is, how come tanks need 3 hits with vikhr at times, and other times just two? It depends on the direction you shoot from. Tanks are more armoured on the front - it is modelled in the DCS: Black Shark And whats the purpose for the AP if the keep ricochetting all the time?? I can hardly hit but the trucks. I use AP only for long flights. When I'm trimmed correctly, I just fly while ignoring the AP. When it comes to how to fly the Ka-50, it is much like a sniper. Plan a position ahead of time (usually 5-7 km away from the target area) and set up shop by hovering. The planning tool I use is the ERBL tool in the ABRIS. When you go in for a rocket run, you'll be tilted forward and will be picking up speed rapidly. Start slower and lower the collective slightly as with slows the the spped increase. A few times I've used the Flight Director[L.CTRL + A] which dampens the inputs and is smoother. Sometimes when aiming with rockets, I hit the TRIM and HOLD. Makes it very steady. But it takes practice and you have to re-trim again after shooting the rockets For a break from training, you can go on-line - Dragon's missions usualy show up on the server list - very good to fly - sometime there are purely training servers.Bomblets.miz ZoomBoy My Flight Sims Page - Link to My Blog - Sims and Things - DCS Stuff++ - Up-to-Speed Guides to the old Lockon A10A and Su-25T - Some missions [needs update]
WildBillKelsoe Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 thanks mate. Oh, by the way, I cant finish up the darn mission after six successful takeoffs and 7 landings, rearming a mix of Vikhrs, KH-25MLs, rockets S-13, S-8KOM, and these tracers which I cant find in the rearm menu. Is there a way to get them inside the maintenance options? I know that my custom loadout is the default loadout, but is it only limited to one? and what's that export thing? it's driving me nuts. ZoomBoy27 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Which mission? ZoomBoy My Flight Sims Page - Link to My Blog - Sims and Things - DCS Stuff++ - Up-to-Speed Guides to the old Lockon A10A and Su-25T - Some missions [needs update]
ZoomBoy27 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Are you talking about re-arming during the mission? For that you need to land, switch the comms to Ground Crew - that's a switch on the Left Panel about the Laser On/Off - and then get into the Comms Menu with [backslash] and then choose Maintenance ZoomBoy My Flight Sims Page - Link to My Blog - Sims and Things - DCS Stuff++ - Up-to-Speed Guides to the old Lockon A10A and Su-25T - Some missions [needs update]
WildBillKelsoe Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 no about the mission itself.
