avalys Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I just built a new computer - Core i7 2600k, 8 GB of RAM, dual Radeon 6970's. It runs A-10c just great (although occasionally a bit of stutter is noticeable, on runways for example) but Black Shark runs terribly using the same graphics settings. Any idea what could be going on?
slug88 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 More advanced and better optimized graphics engine behind A-10C? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Lane Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) Do you let CFX enabled ? can you try with and without ? I have both under Steam .. Black shark look work with CFX but A-10 give me negative scaling if i don't disable CFX. ( but as HD5K and 6K are not really the same, hard to say ) Anyway need try see with latest drivers ( 11.7 Preview and 11.6b) I have try use Radeon Pro for set AFR rendering but no way, it don't recognise the exe of A-10 ( huum or i don't point it on the good place, as with Steam it's a bit different ) Edited July 18, 2011 by Lane - I7 2600K @5.2ghz ( EK full Nickel waterblock ) - Gigabyte P67A-UD7 B3 - 8GB Predator 2133mhz - 2x HD7970 - EK Nickel EN H2o block - 2x Crucial realSSD C300 Raid0 - Black Widow Ultimate - X52 -TrackIR 5 - XIfi Titanium HD - Win 7 x64Pro
avalys Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 I turned down the water effects and civilian traffic in Black Shark, and reduced the cockpit display resolution to 512. It runs fine now. Making the same changes to A-10C also improved the performance enormously, though it was already acceptable. I can confirm that A-10C performs better with Crossfire disabled. Haven't done a careful comparison of Black Shark either way. I also overclocked my Core i7 to 4.5 GHz, which also was a dramatic improvement. Am debating whether to keep it there or back it off a little.
TAIPAN_ Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 You are correct, A-10C has been very nicely optimised I find. Maybe optimised particularly for 64bit or the Sandy Bridge. I also have the same i7-2600k running at 5ghz, and a 2560x2600 resolution (MFDs on monitor below the cockpit screen). That multimonitor res brings blackshark down to 22 FPS, where A-10C still runs at 50-60fps. Amazing performance increase in the new engine! I suspect it could be the 64bit exe. Some said it wouldn't make a difference, but something certainly has because when you push the sim hard with everything on at massive resolution, A-10 performs and Black shark doesn't. Good thing there's going to be a compatibility patch where we get some of the A-10C engine goodness into black shark :) Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
