Right guys just a quick question.

Is there anyway to make an old laptop screen work on my PC with the two Thrustmaster MFD's on top... or am I just wasting my time.

cheers

The best thing to do is buy a 19-22 inch screen. You can use the HELIOS Software that lets you put instruments in the cockpit in it too.

Cheers

It might be doable but probably not worth the time and effort. I found a 17" Dell 1280x1024 at a used computer place for $50 for my MFDs. Did the job beautifully, no fuss no muss.

The I completely changed how I wanted to do things but that's another story.:D

Helios caused me to want more real estate for other panels.

cheers guys.

just had an old laptop kicking about so I thought instead of scrapping it let see what I can reuse

on that note you think I would be able to use the keypad from it?

The sense of accomplishment after you get the laptop screen to work would be nice, but if you're not using a program/the entire laptop, and only the screen, things get tricky. A lot of the components required for the monitor to function are located in the body itself, and not attached to the screen like on a traditional desktop monitor. As for using the keypad? I'm not sure, but hell if you can put video across them, I don't see why key presses won't work. Fly safe... as far as flying a simulator in your room and the dangers associated with that go...

There is an application that lets you use a laptop as a second screen, which I never bothered with because it was $25-50 and I always had surplus screens. Try Google

For my money you are better off sending Helios/Hawgtouch out a network stream and rendering it on the laptop to get rid of the GPU load and looking at a second LCD for your MFCD's.
