Unable to Sim for a bit

I use to have a nice setup here - eyefinity display @ 6480x1080 and 2 'crossfired 2gb 6950's ...

 

I had to get funds together for my father's chemo meds - it was totally worth it for me - and in the meantime, I am running an onboard HD4290..

 

DCS runs like a slideshow (or should I say it walks lol).. with everything turned down and on it's lower res - coming from the surround / eyefinity 3 screen setup to this, was unpractical.. I just can't do it.. and it wont do it lol

 

So hopefully in a month or two I can buy another 6950 or it's nvidia's equivalent. I do have two 4650s with 512mb - and I popped them in and both are bad cards. I get garbled characters at bios post and the cards installed separately make the system BSOD at boot..

 

So, maybe I can focus on building some good missions in the meantime. You guys are lucky! My old man and I literally never exit the sim and he's not all tech savvy, and I got him hooked on it.. lol

 

Cant wait to come back! Would anyone have any alternatives (cheap, I may add) that I can use in the time being or have any recommendations on a cheap'er video card?

I used to run the game on a offboard ATI 4850...not the best one, but... the game ran with all specs in the lowest resolution.

However, if you want cheap AND good enough to run the sim, I would recommend ATI 5800 series, mainly the 5850. It is a good compromise between price and performance.
