I can't give you a solid recommendation for a point of purchase since I'm not in the UK, but depending on your price point I would recommend a GTX560Ti (NOTE: not GTX560, the Ti part is important) or 580. Quite possibly you might take advantage of some of the non-standard variants. I am pretty happy with my DirectCUII-cooled ASUS version, but I am considering to give it to my kid brother and get either a 2GB version of the 560Ti or a 3GB version of the 580. It seems overkill, but it would actually be useful - especially since I'm running dual-monitor. As it stands right now, the vRAM count on my card really is the limiter.

I don't know the prices exactly in the UK - there's be different taxes (we pay 25% VAT etc), but straight currency conversion from my point of purchase

The card I have, ASUS GTX560Ti DirectCUII: £180

Alternative, EVGA 2GB 560Ti: £250

ASUS GTX580 1.5GB DirectCUII: £410

ZOTAC GTX580 3GB: £480

Depending on price differences, the GTX570 might be a good middle ground as well. I'm pretty happy with the 560 as far as performance goes, my only complaint is the vRAM count. However, the DirectCUII cooler is just awesome - the card runs rediculously cool. MSI and some other vendors do have models with similar cooling solutions though. (I'm just an ASUS fanboy. :D )

For value, I'd say the 560Ti's are just superb, it's amazing the amount of performance they crammed into that small price point, but if the money is there you might as well get the 580.

Also, of course, there are good AMD alternatives, but I'm not familiar enough with them to give good advice.

Maybe it is worth to consider ATI/AMD. Some time ago I tested GF560Ti and HD6950 and concerning price and performance, those cards are completely comparable. In some apps 560Ti had lead, in others hd6950 was slightly ahead.

Anyway none of them was running at full throttle in LO, even if I have set everything to max/on/full. Despite of i5@4.4GHz, cpu was still bottleneck (but things might be different in DCS, unfortunatelly I did not have it at that time)...

DCS A-10C does put a lot bigger strain on the GPU compared to previous products, especially vRAM.
