Flogger23m Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) I have recently got an interesting bug in FC2. I can no longer start a mission because hitting the "pause" button no longer unpauses the game (this was the default key). This means I can not start a mission/play the game. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the game but the issue still persists. I have looked in the options of the game and "Pause" is set to my pause/break key like it always has. To test out my keyboard key, I set FRAPs to record videos when I press the pause key and it works... so my keyboard is not at fault. What can I do to fix this issue? Here is a screen shot of the issue I get when trying to modify anything: Edited October 7, 2011 by Flogger23m
golfsierra2 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Do you use another device that can be triggered by keyboard buttons? I had a problem with the default setting of my TrackIr 4 some time ago.... kind regards, Raven.... [sigpic]http://www.crc-mindreader.de/CRT/images/Birds2011.gif[/sigpic]

Depending on your keyboard it may 'look' like it is mapped but actually if you were to clear it and then re-enter in the options / controls setup, you may find it registered as an OEM key. The infamous OEM12 for the Communications menu for a lot of people in Europe. So........................... Re-map the pause feature to the pause key on your keyboard or to another key that isn't being used. The keyword here being 're-map'!! You'll be surprised. Flogger23m Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 I'll have to try clearing it an remapping the button. Otherwise the only input devices I can think of is my house an X52Pro.

Flogger23m Posted September 24, 2011 Author Posted September 24, 2011 (edited) That did not work. Remapping does nothing. I am left with an unplayable game as of now. ED, either release a patch to fix this issue, give me a new CD key/DVD/download, or give me $22 USD. This is unacceptable. I won't be buying the DCS titles like I planned on either. Not until this bug is fixed. Edited September 24, 2011 by Flogger23m

Frostie Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I won't be buying the DCS titles like I planned on either. Not until this bug is fixed. You can't go calling something a bug just because your not getting it to work for you at present, lets exhaust all the options first and see what your possibly doing wrong or not doing. If you remap the button make sure that you remap it in all the profiles in FC2 ie. Free camera, A-10A, F-15C etc. If you remap it in only say A-10A and then you fly an F-15C it won't be remapped. RIPTIDE Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 ^^ True, that. And if that doesn't work, there was some issue before about the Newinput.dll file. Here's one that works for me. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/600721/newinput.dll [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Here's one that works for me. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/600721/newinput.dll I'll try this eventually. I tried setting it for all aircraft, view, ect. I set it to "g" on my keyboard, as well as a button on my X52Pro and Sidewinder 2. No luck so far...
Flogger23m Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Here is a screen shot of an error I get when trying to modify any key binding: If I click ok in the menu to save the settings it will freeze, the error will pop up. If I click ok, the error message will go away. I can click "ok" in the menu again but the same error message will pop up. I can click cancel, however none of the changes will save. So I can essentially no longer assign functions to a keyboard, joystick or mouse.
Jona33 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Hmm, I've seen a similar bug in BS 1.02, although that popped up on start up and wouldn't let you enter the options. Do you see this on startup? Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Flogger23m Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Not on start up. The only time I see this is when I try to save changes made in the options. I tried to import new profiles, but when it comes time to save and exit the error message pops up. I did install the MIG-21 mod previously, but I uninstalled that with Modman and then uninstalled the entire game before reinstalling fresh. So I doubt that can be the issue.
Jona33 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Ok, try doing a second install, (FC2 does have any patches does it). So leave the original, don't uninstall and then run the exe a second time, create a folder first called FC2(2) or something and install into that, this works for BS but don't know if it will work this time. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

I figured out part of the issue. Apparently the MIG-21 mod creates an "F-16" folder in your config folder. Uninstalling it through modman and then uninstalling the game won't delete it, so it has to be done manually. Now I can save option settings. But all issues are not gone. Now the next part of the issue is that I can no longer assign the "Weapon Release" button (F-15C, A-10A) on my X52Pro in the game options. Would you happen to have any idea what this might be caused by? And will a 2nd install on a single PC use another activation?

And will a 2nd install on a single PC use another activation? Not sure, I can't remember if I had to with Black Shark. You might be able to deactivate beforehand which would save you one. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
