sc_morpheus Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 (edited) Hallo everyone, my 8800gtx broke like a month ago and i tought, well its tieme for an new rig anyway. i have a c2d e6750 2,6 ghz and 4 gig ddr2 ram. i was going for a new mainboard a i5 2500 and a new geforce 5xxx. but now im thinking of only buying a new geforce. i could oc my cpu to like 3 or 3.2 ghz. As fare as i know the e6750 is good for that. maybe another 4gig of ddr2 and a mew geforce for 200 euro. So what you think, doas it make sense only to buy a new card or is my cpu to slow? i play at 1920 to 1080 and would like the settings on high. Edited November 12, 2011 by sc_morpheus

Pilotasso Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I think your system being so old is difficult to choose what to upgrade. I would also make a whole new build also, whats your budget? .

I would also make a whole new build also, whats your budget? Well i dont wanna upgread all, cause i dont have the money for that jet. im just gonna overklock the cpu and get a geforce 560 for 160 € or something for that.
EtherealN Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 My opinion is that you should simply start saving. Don't spend any unecessary money on that machine there - a 560 to get it playing again is okey, but don't spend any money on anything that you would not be able to use on the replacement machine when you get that. Pilotasso Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Id rather take a 450, if its just to make it operational and play games. It should prove to be better than the 8800. A 560 is too good for the kind of money it represents for an old machine. Like ETh said, save your money for a better project later on. .
Tek Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 i think you will find that if you just get a new gpu you will not get the best out of it. I had an older s775 system running with a Gtx570 and i have to say the cpu bottlenecked performance a huge amount. If you have no gpu then obviously that goes without question but if you can save and overhall you wont regret it.
