wess24m Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 keep getting a turbine over speed then crash and burn at the same spot, when your cross the high mountain ridge. anybody have a guess of the cause?
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Did you turn on engine de-icing? The EKRAN should give an icing warning. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
wess24m Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 yup did that, theres no warning, i get something that feels like my rotors are unbalenced then turbine overspeed then crash.
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Odd, save the track next time and stick it on here. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
wess24m Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 so finaly got over the ridge but my wingmen could not, I believe that ridge is just below max alt for the blackshark (like 20 feet) so get to my hold point and crash...*sigh*
wess24m Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 Odd, save the track next time and stick it on here. Nate Copy that, I'm restarting the mission and I'll upload the track.
wess24m Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 ok same thing happened, heres a track, it's just as i pass waypoint 3 i believe and start heading to the peak on the mountain. https://files.me.com/wess24m/t1jz2c
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Ok 1st you didn't turn on your engine de-icing, but that is not the problem. You were simply flying too fast for the altitude, also your engines were at the limiters, which should indicate that the flight regime is unsustainable. Slowdown and you'll be fine. Nate Copy that thank you, so is it a good rule of thumb to turn on both rotor and engine de-icing when you get the icing warning? I wasn't sure if the set power indacator lights where tring to tell me if I was working the engines to hard but I guess that was also the case.
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Yeah, Turn on Rotor, Pitot and Engine De-icing. Your Pitot probably froze too, meaning you got no overspeed warning. Unless the engine governors are off, or throttle set to full, you can't overstress the engines. But it will warn that they are being limited by the governors.
