STP Dragon Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Hi guys because of this problem: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1327615#post1327615 I need to switch to the dynamic weather system. Please can anybody tell me how to create a Thunderstorm (Lightnings and Rain) with this dynamic weather system? WildFire Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 create a cyclone/anti-cyclone with 6 fronts or whatever. Keep generating them til you get a good mix of the fronts or circles pretty tightly around the area you are creating the mission. Leave these the same. Then just keep messing with the pressure settings. Positive and Negative value are pretty obvious, what you need to figure out is which cell your changing and what pressure will it clash with the cell next to it. Its difficult and there is going to be a whole lot of trial and error. I would suggest writing down the values and changing 1-2 cells at a time by values of +/- 500. Everyone of my missions has dynamic weather because I love it but each one is different and for lack of a better term, a crapshoot. Although once you figure it out you'll be able to create good weather in an hour or so if your quick. The only problems are with clashing fronts the pressure changes will be extreme and hence the wind becomes a serious problem. Therefore I suggest making the default loadouts use only guided munitions. Anything else is a complete waste. Unfortunately most people wont figure this out til theyve flown the mission and so thats a small problem, warnings in the briefing about expected high winds could help here. Also because of the pressure changes the altimeter setting ATC gives is probably going to be higher or lower than you can possibly set it. A problem to some who actually do that on the ground. Also I left out temperature and season settings, albeit they are extremely important. Your going to get much better results sticking with fall or spring and temperature of course is going to change your chance of cold weather with rain/snow. I have one mission that is completely overcast with decent snow at night, it is a crazy tough mission, and I love the weather, everyone that tested it said it was awesome until we tried to drop mk-84's on a command center and 8 bombs later the thing was still standing.... So its very discretionary, how hard do you really want to make the mission? Simply because of the high winds I would advise sticking with standard weather if at all possible but Im sure you can get crazy weather with low winds, I just havent played with it enough to get it there. Good luck-
WildFire Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Oh, and because you cant physically put cells where you want them its pretty impossible for someone to tell you how to create exactly what you want, like lightning. That is the primary reason the main dynamic weather thread is so short and lacking, it really is a figure it out for yourself deal. 1
STP Dragon Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 It's not working for me, I didn't get it. How to generate clouds? Every setting I tried was only affecting the wind direction and speed. I need: - Clouds beginning at 14.000 feet - Lightnings - Low wind speed Homepage: Spare-Time-Pilots DCS:BlackShark v1.0.2: BLINDSPOTs EditorMod DRAGONs ArmA2-Sounds DRAGONs BS1 TRAININGPACK DRAGONs MISSIONPACK [bS & FC2] DCS:World: TM WARTHOG PROFIL FOR BS2 DRAGONs BS2_TRAININGPACK DRAGONs TRAININGPACK DRAGONs MISSIONPACK
WildFire Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 If you read my second post you would see no one can tell you how to create the weather you want, you have to play with it. You have to get high pressure and low pressure cells next to each other so they clash. High pressure hits low pressure and clouds form. Get the pressure changes correct and you'll get storm conditions. I think my border patrol mission has dynamic weather with some fog, if you take a look at that you'll see the major pressure changes. Otherwise your on your own.
STP Dragon Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 I give up. The dynamic weather system is not made for me. I was lucky to get clouds and rain but then I want to test the wind speed with a Ka-50. I startet the first engine, the rotor began to rotate and before the engine was started completely the rotorblades crashes and flying off. I hope ED will release a hotfix for the JTAC-Bug else the JTACs will not work in my mission "Thunderstruck". Weta43 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Try Fall 15 degrees, 2 cyclonic systems, 1 @-5300 the other at +100 If you get a L offshore of Gelendzhik & are a bit lucky with th other system you should get rain, pretty much full cloud cover and lightening down most of the coast & inland. Check the wind speed markers before trying :-) Cheers.
