Anyone else having problems getting infantry units to displace from point A to point B? I'm playing with the mission editor in BS2, and when I place infantry units and set waypoints for them on the map, they don't move when the mission is played.

Check the speed you have set them to move at.

I created a test mission with a Russian infantryman, an insurgent RPG infantryman, and a Georgian AK infantryman, all with a single waypoint and set to default speed. The Russian infantryman moved as expected. The insurgent RPG infantryman did not move at all. The Georgian AK infantryman moved, but remained in a kneeling position throughout. Track is attached.

Question: when you are placing these infantry and setting those waypoints, are you setting them near enemy units? Within view of enemy units?

Negative. You can view the attached track and see.

@GhostDog

Well I took a look at your track GhostDog and the infantry were moving with the exception of the RPG trooper. It looked pretty normal to me. Do you by chance have the test mission file I could take a look at in the editor?

RPG and MANPADS are not mobile [in the sim]. The AK infantry don't have standing/walking animations so they just slide. If you want them to walk you'll need to use one of the other types. Russian Paratroopers and the US M4/M249 infantry have walking animations. Probably the new Russian Infantry Soldier would have walking animations too, but you need to install the hotfix to make them visible in-game.

Really? I wasn't aware of the RPG guys not being mobile. Never tested them but I'll have to take a look at that one. The new Russian infantry figures are mobile with nice animations. I like the style of the combat dress as well.:thumbup:

The AK infantry was sliding in a kneeling position when I tested it. I don't think that's normal. Here's the .miz file.

Okay. I didn't know the RPG infantry was immobile either. Kinda limits their usefulness if they're basically static grenade launchers.

Oh I wouldn't say that.:cry: I don't think I've ever really made a mission where I had the infantry moving. I always place them carefully behind cover, or at the edge of woods, looks more real, looks like infantry actually using the terrain properly. They still fight well and the fireworks looks amazing from the cockpit.

There are many neat little tricks one can do in the editor to simulate infantry moving from one place to another and still find proper cover.

I agree, generally, but it would be fun to be able to do more with the infantry units in the mission editor, especially when they're attacking other ground targets. Oh well, what's there is pretty good still.
