FC2 installations questions?..Any advantage to put FC2 on SSD & others.

With the announcement of FC3.. I've decided to reinstall FC2 to refresh myself to it......flying CAP & SEAD for A10c/BlackShark

I have limited space on my SSD and am debating if i should install FC2 on it. DCS is on it.. but i'm guessing FC2 probably wont need its speed. What do you think? (I will end up with FC3 on it no doubt)

Also quick question about FC2 install..is the following correct?

  1. Install LockOn original
  2. Install FC2
  3. Patch FC2
  4. Add Mods
  5. Fly...crash.. burn. :P

Can i uninstall LockOn original.. or is it either incorporated or overwritten?

And what is your install size?

Thanks

After FC2 is installed, you can uninstall Lock On. They are separate.

Regarding installs on SSD's, I'd personally suspect you'll see the same benefits in FC2 as you do in BS and A-10C. Perhaps slightly less pronounced, but still there. I don't use an SSD myself though so I can't say for sure.

for me with fc2 and dcs, having the game (not o/s) installed on ssd eliminated any stuttering when panning around/changing views...presumably relating to loading textures on the fly to memory.

previously i was using 7200rpm hdd. a 10,000rpm hdd might alleviate stutters also.
