tonym Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Is it possible to get a helicopter to land not on an airfield or a FARP. Every time I try ,the landing waypoint reverts to the nearest airfield.
Jona33 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Can't make it land but you can make it hover at low altitude, so low there's plenty of dust and you can't see what's happening. Place a waypoint at the desired hover point. In the advanced menu select a circular orbit at 0ft and 0knots. Then set a Stop condition duration to end the hover. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
tonym Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 Thanks Jona33 I'll try that it sounds OK as I'll be at altitude anyway.
Megagoth1702 Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 It works but this way of orbiting does not look good at all. :-/ The unit decends really slowly. Any kind of workaround? Jona33 Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Set the waypoint to be at low altitude anyway. At 0knots the heli then just hangs there without actually orbiting. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Megagoth1702 Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 There is a minimum altitude of 98 feet above ground, can't set it to anything lower. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] System specs:2500k @ 4.6 GHz 8GB RAM HD7950 OC'd Win7 x64 Posting tracks to make your DCS better - attention bump incoming!
AdawgPHL Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 There is a minimum altitude of 98 feet above ground, can't set it to anything lower. Actually I got mine to hover at about 10 feet off the ground using the orbit (0kts/0ft) method. I still want them to land. But haven't been able to get it to work properly. F99th Wizard #56
