mac22 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Just got a Thrustmaster Warthog delivered and started playing it with A10 (using default profile) and Black Shark 2 (using a profile a downloaded from a forum) and really loving it! However I read in one the Simhq reviews for the product that it already comes with some pre-configured profiles for some other games which I can't seem to find - I quote the review below: "Falcon 4.0: Allied Force Next up on the list was Falcon 4.0: Allied Force. This was one of the sims that had an included TARGET profile already created with the software downloaded from Thrustmaster (the others being: DCS: Black Shark, IL-2: 1946, Rise of Flight, and LOMAC: Flaming Cliffs 2 F-15). " the link is http://www.simhq.com/_technology3/technology_200c.html Just wondering where do I find these profiles? - for the black shark 2 profile I downloaded I had x3 lua files - throttle/stick/key - that I had to assign to the relevant controller in game.
cichlidfan Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) If I recall correctly, those profiles are buried in the install folders for the Target software. Ahh, found them. C:\Program Files (x86)\Thrustmaster\TARGET\scripts Note, they do not come with instructions so you may have to learn a little target syntax to figure out what does what. EDIT: I believe there is a way to access them (load them) from the Target GUI but since I never use the GUI I don't recall the process. mac22 Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Many thanks! 1)Managed to find them - but as a newbie to the TW stick I have no idea how to use them (the BS2 profile I downloaded just had a couple of LUA files and I connected them to the throttle and stick ingame) it was easy! However these files carry a TTM + TMC extension that look like they relate to some FC2 aircraft such as A10 and mig29 as well as some other files that carry _macro files extension - are you sure these are profile files - and if yes how exactly do you use them? 2)Also as the other game that I will mostly be using the TW stick with is Lock on FC2 - can anyone direct me to a good TW profile preferably in the LUA format and with a picture explaining the key mappings?
cichlidfan Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Those files are Target profiles, for use with the Target software. The Target software is a programming environment/scripting language for programming the stick and throttle buttons and axis. To use them you need to run the Target software, load the profile and then start the related game. They replace all in game programming except for the axis assignments. If you read pages 3 thru 6 in the Target Users Guide it gives you limited (the manual is not the best) instructions on linking profiles and games. It also, on page 5 and 6 explains how to get a printout of what button does what. If you are using Target profiles you are generally going to clear out all in game button assignments, so make sure you back things up. mac22 Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 Thanks will take a look at the user guide - i presume this should also explain how to produce the LUA files that I had seen earlier? Was also playing A10c Warthog earlier today (I do not load any kind of profile for this as I understood this game was plug and play) but had trouble getting the aircraft trim on the stick to work - i discovered in the options screen a left push of the trim hat (Joy btn POV1_L) was assigned to view left and a (left push of the trim hat + LCtrl) had been assigned to trim left - is this correct? although interesting pushing the left trim alone did nothing - not sure if it was conflicting with my TrackIR or if there is something wrong with the setup? Finally on the TW stick where would you recommend assigning the zoom function which I would use in conjuction with the track IR zoom to view the HUD (unfortunately the friction wheel on the throttle I am already using as rudder - until i get my pedals)
cichlidfan Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Target and the lua files have nothing to do with each other. The lua files are generated/modified by changes you make in Options>Controls. Their default set of entries is controlled by the sim. The Target manual can be a bit confusing and there will be issues with using Target in A-10 due to a faulty default lua. That problem does not exist for other sims like FC. Don't hesistate to ask questions, and also search the forum. There are several good Target related threads. The default setting for the 'trim' hat is for views. Since you have TIR you can just eliminate the view mapping and remap the trim functions without the CTRL key. They did nothing in game because TIR was overriding their function. If you are getting pedals then I would probably just leave zoom on the keyboard (the keys are easy to reach and use Num /, Num * and Num Enter). Otherwise, you have some options using a modifier and the trim hat for example. I have a G13 keyboard and I use the joystick on it for zoom in the A-10. " On this subject, I rediscovered something about these (haven't opened the GUI in a long time). They can be accessed directly from the GUI when you open it up there are two buttons under GUI Configuration Files. Click the one that says 'Stock' and you will see this (the stuff under Fly Now are my additions). Select the one you want and click 'Run'. You can also print out a tabular or graphical layout of the assigned functions from here. mac22 Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 thanks have managed to find the stock profiles (and I think that is eactly what was being referred to in the simhq review I mentioned earlier). I have not yet figured out how to use these profiles - when I click run it starts to run a script which never seems to end so I just hit the stop button - i presume you have to wait for the script to stop for say FC2 and then you exit and load up the game - but will have a read of the manual. I also seem to have made a mess of my plug and play warthog profile (both stick and throttle) for DCS A10. I accidentally loaded a BS2 LUA profile for stick and throttle over it (although i thought I had backed up the original profile when I try and load the files everyrything appears blank!! 1)So do out have any idea how I can revert back to my original A10 plug and play profile (I just started the game after installing the TWarthog drivers and the profile was already their) 2)For future reference how do you backup the LUA file for the throttle - do you simply click on the throttle column and just select save profile and this save the whole profile (ALL buttons /AXIS assignments/SIM/GAME) and then do the same for joystick LUA (if the answer is yes then this is what I did for the A10 plug and play profile but it didn't seem to work!!).

Answered hosed default profile question in the other thread. Try to keep things in a single thread please. You do not wait for target to stop. At the bottom of the window you will see the program finish loading; 'main returned 0'. See below. Leave it that way and start your game. Target must be running while the game is running. mac22 Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Many thanks for the help and I will keep my questions all on the this thread! 1)Basically I will follow your above advice and run the desired stock profile until I get to "main returned 0" and then launch the game - however the manual(p3) is directing that I also need to creat a "fly now" association i.e link the .exe of the game to desired profile do I need to do this as well or can I just run the script and then the game as seen above - also once I have launched the game do I need to do anymore seting up within the game or is it all automated? 2)With regard to my other question on resetting my A10C in game profile back to the default - I have managed to find the config/input folder and within this I have found 3 sub folders (A10c/A10c easy/Default) and one LUA file "modifiers" - do I need to delete all the folders and file and then resart the sim?
cichlidfan Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) 1. You don't have to create the fly now. All that does is kick off the related sim/game and load the profile. I have actually had issues doing that so I stopped. Just running it as above and then starting the game will be fine. After the game is started you will still need to assign the axis settings but the switches and buttons should be taken care of (NOTE: I did not go through the code on each of those, or test them, so I am making no promises). You can also use that print button to get a graphical layout of what does what. EDIT: As far as running the profiles. I run mine from the script editor window instead of the GUI so I don't even have those buttons. I just select the main program to load into the editor and then instead of editting I just hit the run button and then start the sim. It is just easier for me to keep track of what I am doing when I see the actuall code. 2. Those three folders coorespond to the three choices in the pulldown under Options>Controls. The one where you choose Free Camera, Game or Sim Mode. You can just delete the one you were using, Sim mode I assume, but there also would be no harm in deleting all of them as they will get replaced anyway. The other file is, I believe, where the modifier keys data is stored. That should probably be deleted. As I said, deleting the whole thing is the easiest. Hope that answers your questions.
