Pigwiggen Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Ajax...that sounds promising. I was aware off the 'Collective/Throttle' connection, it was finding the input that was puzzling me. SFAL, I'm not side-lining your suggestion. Merely looking for an easy solution. ajax Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Okay, I checked--it is JOY_Z for the x52. As noted above, remember to invert the axis.
Puddlemonkey Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 No, I don't believe "throttle" is the right option. You want to assign "collective" to the x52 throttle. On the collective line (not the throttle line) assign the axis to the x52. I don't remember which axis it is, maybe joystick_RZ? I have an x52, but I'm at work right now. I'll check it when I get home. Sorry, yes, I meant to say collective, not throttle.
Teapot Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 All hats on X52Pro are eight-way I don't think they are. You are looking at the applet which is used to test the joystick and this is deducing you are pushing it diagonally. They are 8 way .... In DCS, go to the options and try to assign a hat to a command such as slew SHKVAL. Start with the black hat on the stick. If you push it up, the 'Add Assignment Panel' shows 'JOY_BTN20'. Push it right and it shows 'JOY_BTN21' Push it diagonally up/right and you will get either 'JOY_BTN20' or 'JOY_BTN21'. You won't get a unique response for up/right. Now push the silver hat up, you get 'JOY_BTN_POV1_U'. Push the silver hat right and you get 'JOY_BTN_POV1_R'. Now for the magical moment.... Push it diagonally up/right and you will get 'JOY_BTN_POV1_UR', a unique response and showing the joystick registers this action separately. As you note ... the limitation to 4 way is within DCS ... probably because the function doesn't require an 8 way switch, but as Suchaz said ... ALL the hat switches in the X52Pro are 8 way :). Pigwiggen Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I'm trying but we're not quite there yet. Following your route, Puddlemonkey I've matched that 'Joy_z' to my Saitek throttle and inverted the setting....but that doesn't appear to be the right choice. With the engines running and movement showing on the nose wheel when I twist my Saitek stick, there is no movement at all with the Collective in the pit when I move my throttle forward or back. A different 'Joy' choice seems to be solution. Any other thoughts. Is it because I'm using a X52 Pro perhaps? I am most appreciative of your help. Pigwiggen Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Er....I didn't save it! However even that doesn't seem straightforward to me. Clicking on the 'Save' tab I then get a multiple choice menu and I assume I select 'Collective' from the drop down list? However I still don't get any movement/input from the Collective. I refuse to believe that I'm getting to old for this game!!! Puddlemonkey Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 @Teapot. The hats are 8-way but there isn't a separate command for the diagonals. This is a result of the driver or the electronics, I think the driver. It is not a DCS limitation. @Pigwiggen. Do you see the movement of your X52 throttle when you are in the settings screen, adjusting the axis for the collective?
Pigwiggen Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Let you know tomorrow, old lad. I've done my bit for today. Win7 Pro 64 bit SP1 AMD Atlon 64x2 5000+ 8 GB DDR2 M2N-ESLI 2048 GB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 335 GB Corsair Force GS ATA device (SSD) Saitek X52 Pro Track IR 5
Pigwiggen Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 So...some progress at last. If I elect to go in with 'Game play' I can easily take off and land and can readily see movement on the Collective within the pit - however, there's still no progress with the 'Simulation' setting. In addition I can see movement of the X52 throttle in the settings screen. So I saved the Profile as 'Collective.lua' and loaded that but to no avail. What's next? Pigwiggen Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I've solved it. At last. In Options and Controls I had selected 'Ka-50 Game' as exposed to 'Ka-50 Real' . we live, stumble and learn. OK many thanks for the help so far...doubtless I'll be back. Cheers.
