Guys, help a clueless geezer out.

I've got this old mission I made for BS1 back in the day, and want to re-use at least parts of it in a new BS2 / WH mission. But as per the screenshot I'm getting a warning saying "optimal path not find" when opening the bugger in the ME, and it refuses to save as well! Any ideas?

PS. It actually _plays_ OK nevertheless, weird as that may sound...

I don't have any experience with this problem you have - but this is my guess what may by-pass this problem:

Start this mission and exit it again after some seconds and save the track.

Than look if you can open this track in the mission editor without error.

(just change in "type" to *.trk)

There is an issue with AI waypoints. This might sound like a silly idea, but use the zip/rar workaround to access the mission text file.

Add the mission to a zip or rar archive.

Within the archive, double click the mission file.

You will now see another archive, in it is a file titled "mission"

Open it using Notepad ++ or other similar text editing software.

Use the find and replace tool to search for

'on road' and replace it with 'off road'

You could also try opening it in BS1 and change the waypoints to offroad, or deleting them entirely and see if it imports into WH/BS2 better.

try opening it in BS1

Don't have the original installed anymore unfortunately :(

Ach, I dunno, maybe I'll just can the mission because there's all kinds of things can go wrong at this point - a humongous amount of random triggers f.ex. that just won't necessarily port over too well. But thanks everyone for your advice nevertheless :)

Triggers typically port over pretty well. The thing I got a ton of errors with when I opened an older mission was caused by the change in assigning AI airgroups targets.

Maybe upload the mission here to see if anyone can give it a go? I still have BS1 installed and I could take a crack at it.

Thanks Grimes, please do if you've got the time. Here's the mission, and just ignore that the home FARP is now actually smack dab in the woods - seems that something's changed between BS1 and 2 :D

Thanks again and please report back if you find something.

Well it still opens up in BS1 without issue. In BS1 I was able to save as a new mission file.

However BS2/WH still can't save it. There has got to be a few little things that aren't producing errors, but won't let you re-save the file. I have no idea what is actually causing the issue however. I suspect it has something to do with the units though as I tried deleting all of the triggers and saving, but that didn't work.

Thanks once more Grimes. Yah, maybe they dropped some unit IDs or something? I think I'll play around with this a bit more still and see if I can save after changing the units to something else and then back...
