doright Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Situation is this: Flying along looking off my wing I see a surprise SA-19 launch at me from the corner of a town. After dodging the missile I slew the cursor on the TAD map to the approximate area of the SA-19. I want to set the cursor location as SPI so I can slew the TGP to it, find the SA-19 and launch a maverick its way from a healthy distance. The TAD won't let me set as SPI unless it's highlighting an already set WP. So what after pushing, pulling, and screaming at the stupidity of a system that won't let me perform this somewhat intuitive operation I realize that the idiot in the seat may be the major system malfunction. So how do I get an arbitrary cursor location on the TAD communicated to the TGP? I ended up putting the HUD cursor on the suspect area, setting it as SPI, then slaving the TGP to it. There must be an easier, faster, and safer way.
kylania Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 You can press the MRK button on the UFC. That will create a Mark on your TAD at your current location. You can Hook it then Slew your TGP to it to find your target. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

doright Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Thanks that was exactly what I wanted. Don't know why I didn't think of creating a markpoint directly on the TAD. Thank you for reinforcing my correct system malfunction diagnoses as IITS (idiot in the seat). EtherealN Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 No worries. This is the sort of thing that the pilot would have spent many many many hours drilling through manuals and (of course) the DTS version of A-10C. We mere mortals don't always have the same time allotment for that kind of thing. :) I am serious about printing that set of pages though. They are amazingly helpful since they have so many functions explained right there, and as long as you know roughly where to look (like "this should be on the TMS") you can often find new functions that do what you need mid-flight. That's how I learned this plane. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Lane Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 yes, this is the good thing, we can barely try and train when we want. ( Aka jump in the plane when we want ) New pilot will pass hours with the manual, and theorical class, learn nearly all the manual, procedures word to word before have some hours of training with the DTS.. We are lucky, we have the possibility to train when we want. and dont have to pas all night with the manual in our room, before can train anything. - I7 2600K @5.2ghz ( EK full Nickel waterblock ) - Gigabyte P67A-UD7 B3 - 8GB Predator 2133mhz - 2x HD7970 - EK Nickel EN H2o block - 2x Crucial realSSD C300 Raid0 - Black Widow Ultimate - X52 -TrackIR 5 - XIfi Titanium HD - Win 7 x64Pro
