BenTremblay Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I have heard that I could use DataLink to share with an A-10 but I don't know that for a fact. IRL that sort of interoperability is a major problem. I think they're moving to a higher level of abstraction that would allow all systems to share, but that there's no simple workaround. In BS2 is there a way right now? What comes to mind as fantasy is to have both A-10 and Ka-50 using JTAC. Panzer Blitz => Panzer General => BF1942 => BF2 => OFP DR => WWIIOL => ArmA:OA => IL-2: BoS => DCS Ka-50

I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Speed Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) Ka-50 can quickly enter Lat/long to a precision of 0.1' into the PVI-800, which roughly translates to an accuracy of about 90ish meters.. slightly less than twice the inaccuracy of a 6 digit MGRS grid. So convert your 6 digit MGRS grids to lat long in degrees and decimal minutes, and then talk to your Ka-50s over voice comms/chat to give them the coordinates. Unfortunately, the PVI-800 does not accept an altitude input and does not contain a database of terrain height, so the KA-50s will be able to auto-slew their Shkvals to the right azimuth of the target you give them, but the altitude may be off. That said, they can always just watch the Abris and line up Shkval cursor over the target point they manually entered with the PVI-800, flashing the laser a few times to get accurate range info.
