WildBillKelsoe Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 As above.. the flight elements in the first and second missions are not assigned proper attacking points. Also, the mission itself gives 75% completion after most of the column is taken out with the spew of a chockful of S-8 KOM rockets.. The airstrips (Krasnodar) just southwest of the AO bugged (no 100% refuel capabilities)... Anyways, any advice or books to read on the Su-25? Not the tango, the Rook, preferably about real life combat implementations... Also, I've learnt that 1 kilogram of fuel, delivers 0.416 nautical mile, and that is after serious trials that mostly ended in death by bingo or landing at redundant airstrips nearest to AO (for emergencies).. I also don't know why the Grach 1-1 and 2-1 elements keep circling the rendezvous point and show up only when I'm actually on top of the damn column of IFV's and getting all sorts of holes, and IR undetected manpads launch.. it goes like "Grach 1-1 departing RP", and then "Grach 1-1 2 minutes to target". I actually edited the mission changing my route to IP-TGT segment more to the lake and coming straight on the path of the column to inflict maximum first pass damage.. What is your advice to attacking with rockets.. How far should I be? Attack angle and profile, altitude, speed, deploy brakes or not (specially with a jittery effect at 600+ km/h speeds). Take your time, I'm obviously against the flow (A-10/Ka-50).. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. WildBillKelsoe Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 update: most of the issues above are my fault. Just following the briefing instructions, and being there on time. But one thing I don't understand, is that the MANPADS shot me while under 200 meters AGL, and the in-game pedia mentions the manpads minimum launch height being 200m and max 3800 or 3700 for both FIM-9 variants. If I get under 3 clicks, I get hammered by the Gepard, and as I soar high, the MANPADS lock me and shoot. How is the mission supposed to be finished? the lighting on the launch starts to show up when I'm very close. GGTharos Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 You can expect MANPADS to attack you at just about any low altitude. They don't have a proximity fuze, so the only problem for them operating near ground is clutter and multi-path issues, the latter not being modeled in this game. If you're getting hit by MANPADS, you're not 'soaring high', if you're escaping from MANPADS, you're doing it wrong. WildBillKelsoe Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 I'm having the time of my life with this slow, but deadly baby! I just progressed to the bridge mission, and I finished it! I didn't know that landing was part of the deal for graduation, but here. Thanks for the tips GG, appreciate it! Could you point me to some references on the SU-25?
