I am trying to write a mission where an AI drops a GBU on one of the "transformer stations" on the map (the building at the end of a power line) I am having an issue though as the AI will drop a GBU and hit it every time but how do I set this up so that when that building on the map is destroyed it sets off a trigger or a condition or something that says "well done building destroyed, blah blah blah, mission success!" I am at a loss. Please help!

Thanks in advance

It's been a while since I've been playing around with the mission editor, but you could put a single infantry unit very close to the station and have a trigger go off on its death.

That's what you got to do. Infantry unit and then.

Once-->Group Dead. ----->Message to all. "Well done building destroyed.

Group: Infantry unit

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Problem is, it will be quite easy to kill the infantry without killing the station. A near miss will kill the infantry dude, and leave the station intact. A solution that would be more reliable would be to use a Lua mod- Slmod offers the ability to detect destroyed map objects, you would only need to place a trigger zone around the map object and call the proper Lua function. Then a flag will be set when your power station dies. However, the mission will have to be run under the multiplayer executable, meaning, it won't be counted in your log book, and you will need to maintain a connection to the master server.

Thanks Speed. I am downloading the Slmod as we speak. Going to read up and see if I cant get the hang of that mod. Ive heard great things about it. I was wondering if destroying these building where the power lines end at will actually "shut the lights off" in the town. Is there a mod that actually brings "life" to the power grid?

If you place a custom building - Static objects > Structures > Tech combine etc

Then you can give it a name and it becomes a "UNIT" which you can attach triggers to.

One mission i made awhile ago was similar where once a Power station was hit all the SAM Sites in the area went offline for a short amount of time (enabling you to get to the main objective) works a treat.

Another thing you can do to make your SAMs more realistic is put a trigger zone around them comparable to their Kill zone, and set the AI of the SAM SITE to OFF until an Aircraft goes inside its zone. If you are feeling charitable you can put in an Air Search Radar just to give people a heads up of possible SAM Activity.
