behemoth71 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I have to be honest, unless something has changed, I resent this deactivation process. I burned one activation already with a hdd failure. Now, once I'm at the stage to upgrade my mobo and cpu, THIS game is the least of my concerns, but since I don't want to burn another activation I need to ask. I've searched for the exe file I'm suppose to use for deactivation, I have not found it in the BS folder, is it somewhere else? I used the search function here and found little that was helpful, though I admit I want to do this fast and my patience is short. Anyone know the what, where, and how of deactivating my game? Thank you in advance, I hate to sound terse, I like this game a lot, I just get tired of feeling like I have to worry about limits to my installation of a game I bought just because I upgrade a lot. If the system has changed please disregard my rant, I don't think I'll buy another game with this system as to keep track of them all is beyond me. Do I have to do this for FC2 as well? -B
EtherealN Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Exe file location (modify path to your system installation path): Black Shark 1: C:\Games\DCSBS\bin\x86\stable\protect.exe Black Shark 2: C:\Games\DCSBS2\bin\protect.exe Same general path for the other products as well. That path is what the QuickStart guide means when it says "Game \bin\ folder". EDIT: Also, please note that if you were to run out of activations through legitimate use (like upgrading computers, hardware failures etcetera etcetera), you just contact ED support (see my signature) when you've run out and you'll be issued a brand spanking new license key. :) The exception to this is A-10C and BS2, and most likely upcoming products, which use a new version of the protection system where you automatically regain activation after time. pacotito Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Also make sure you keep the deactivation code. You will need it to reactivate without wasting an activation if its bs1 you are deactivating. Edit: Does getting a new serial number also apply if it was purchased through direct2drive. As I too am out of activations. Edited April 15, 2012 by pacotito . Pacotito I7-5820k@4.5 Z99 extreme4 16gb ddr4 520gb ssd. Gigabyte ssc GTX960 SSC 4gb
EtherealN Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Pacotito: yes. If you need a refill, feel free to contact support through a ticket, see my signature for directions. Please try to give complete information in the first message to ensure prompt service. Also, deactivation on BS2 and A-10C does not require a deactivation code to be kept, it has automatic deactivation. Consult the quickstart manual in the /doc/ folder for details. (Depends on exact deactivation method chosen, like online/offline etcetera.) behemoth71 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Great, all set, both titles are deactivated. Thanks so much for the always helpful support, sorry for sounding like such a curmudgeon. I'm glad you guys moved to a less user intensive process, I am very forgetful and the new way makes much more sense to me. -Chris
