I'm using an EVGA GTX 580 (factory overclocked) and my operating temps are in the 80 DegC region when playing BS2.....is this a normal operating temp for this card ?...

Is the graphics card a referrence design, or custom?

 

The referrence design usually hits those kinda of temps.

I've now installed a program that came with card called "EVGA Precision X" and have made a custom fan profile which keeps the card stable around 70DegC when loaded....it's just runs slightly noisier now...

That is referrence design. Your temps are normal.
