Hey guys, I bought a second hand X52 about a week ago and it's not been working properly since I got it.

The issue is basically that the buttons on the joystick don't respond properly. Sometimes they don't activate at all when I click them, sometimes they do, sometimes they stay on after I've stopped pressing them, and every so often when I connect the cable to the joystick (from the throttle) they work fine.

The weird part is that the throttle part is totally fine, the axis sensors on the joystick are fine, and the 3 switchers on the base of the joystick work fine too. It's just the joystick buttons that rarely work properly.

I bought a new male to male PS/2 cable thinking that was the issue, but this hasn't fixed it. I'm now thinking that because the buttons on the base of the joystick work ok but the ones on it don't, it may be a loose wire inside the joystick unit somewhere. I did take it apart when I got it to see if I could see anything obvious, but I'm not electronics engineer so I couldn't really spot anything.

Has anyone else had this issue? One thing to add is that when it works fine, all the LEDs on the joystick light up as they should do. When it's not working properly, only some of the LEDs light up, and sometimes in the wrong colour, which makes me thing it could also be an issue with the joystick drawing more power than my motherboard USB port can provide?

Cheers

it sounds like your Saitek drivers got messed up.. maybe you installed them wrong or the wrong ones? I don't mean to sound like I am saying you don't know how, but hey, everyone has a problem once in a while..

Thanks for your reply, I'll try reinstalling them again when I get home. Pretty sure I installed the right ones but I know what you're saying, I might not have been concentrating at the time :)

I don't know the history of your computer, if those were the very first joystick drivers, or if you need to clean out any old ones..,,, as long as there are not old one left in there, and they are the right ones, and you follow direction, all should be well...

after 12 years of Saitek, I have my share of screwed up installs,,, plenty.. :joystick:

Tried reinstalling the drivers and it hasn't fixed the problem :( The fact that the switches on the base work fine but the ones on the stick don't makes me think it's either a loose wire or the stick isn't getting enough power, so I'm thinking of getting a cheap powered USB hub to see if that helps.

If anyone has any other ideas I'd really appreciate it.
