MoGas Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 For this topic I guess we need more specific about the "Block" of the F-16 who will start to fight a F-15A/C, F-16 is not F-16, it has a reason why the agressor units fly block 30 vipers.....I believe a block 52+, or even 60 with CFT`s dosent match a F-15 like a block 30 would do, I dont know how much more power the other engine type is given more to the block 52-60 but there is for sure a difference in handling in case of dogfighting......
Jona33 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Hold it's own against a F-22.. I agree (WVR anyways).. Sadly that site you linked makes it seem like the Eurofighter would do loops around an F-22. I will agree the F-22 is not the best of aircraft in service right now. But there's so much hate going on it's quite pathetic reading it. I heard the PAK-FA is having Cracking issues.. and not to mention it had an engine problem in the recent MAKS flight. Why does noone shed light on this; but they continue to hammer the F-22 problems? You can never find anything useful that compares the two. It's nearly all people claiming that one's the better because it comes from their country and beats either the "bad teeth scone eaters" or the "overweight idiots."* Kind of pointless speculation though, the chances of the eurofighter going against the F-22 in combat are bloody tiny. *Just making my point, I don't hold either of these views. On topic, to quote mvsgas. "Everything F-16 related, depends on the block, the year, the country and even the serial number. Without those parameters, information is not accurate" Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Pretty sure all the later blocks have uprated engines to help with the increased weight. But you're right. Even with the thrust increase, a heavier aircraft isn't going to perform as good as a lighter aircraft. Didn't know the aggressors flew the Block 30's for that reason! Cool!
mvsgas Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Didn't know the aggressors flew the Block 30's for that reason! Cool! Aggressor squadrons use 30 (Alaska only), 32, 42. Among many reasons, because is what is available. They used block 25 and 52 in the past ( might still) But most 25 are getting retired or where retired and block 52 where turn over to the Thunderbirds. Aslo examples of both where sent to ANG and Reserve units. USAF General Electric equipped F-16 units are combat units (except for Eielsons AFB Alaska) while Pratt and Whitney mostly for training. There are combat ANG and Reserve units that use PW, but I can't think of one PW powered F-16 in the USAF station overseas nor combat deployable. 1 To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
sungsam Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Block 30 is known as a dogfighter and is the most agile as far as I know among blocks DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! DCS AH64D Longbow !
mvsgas Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Because it is a small airframe C model (25, 30, 32) with powerful engine (F110-GE-100) Some people claim FLCS helps, better in some conditions than DFLCS. I have no idea if this is true and doubt it, but have no prof one way or the other.
